Gears of War for PC.

Is this a DX10 or 9 game? Is there coop multiplay in the PC version? How many players can play against the computer? Can a PC and a 360 do coop together? I did a brief search but couldn't find any firm answers. I really like to play a fun coop game with my buddies because we're tired of killing each other all the time. Tea-baggin' just isn't as much fun as it used to be.

I hope it isnt as bad as the Halo 2 -> PC port. It looked like complete ass. Publishers were like:

Publisher guy 1: lolz! Halo 2 for PC!
Microsoft guy 1: I have an idea! lets make it Vista only! That way, we'll only be selling to the 8% of gamers that actually have Vista!
Microsoft guy 2: Brilliant! We'll make more money that way for sure! I'm not sure how, but I'm certain we will...
Publisher guy 1: lolz! lets not update the graphics either, it'll be cheaper for us to release that way. I mean, the PS2 is only 7 years old, a game designed to run on it should look awesome on a modern PC right?
Publisher guy 2: Yes yes, of course.

release day +1: Halo 2 (suposedly Vista only) is cracked to run on XP. Now the 92% of gamers who run WinXP are able to play! And many of them for free, since they just download it instead of buying it retail.

MS and Bungie farmed out the port for Halo and Halo 2. Epic is handling the port for GoW themselves. All reports are that it looks fantastic.

It will be better (content wise) than its xbox counterpart. It uses ZERO DX10 shaders, but will run in Vista just fine.

Yeah, evidently the only default bonus for DX10 is AA, but hopefully someone will find a way to make it work in DX9 too. The big plus is the mod maker content not available for the 360. The new chapter with the Brumak chasing you the whole time should be intense too.

To the OP: Co-op is available only through games for Windows live. You only need a silver (free) account to play.

I have this game pre ordered. It should be of decent quality too.

SK gave Epic $ for the UT3 engine, which they say Epic used instead to make Gears of War.

The big problem with Gears of War is no dedicated servers. You have to sign up to Games for Windows Live just to host your own online games. That's the lamest thing I've seen in multiplayer in more than a decade. Microsoft is taking PC gaming backwards.

someone better hack that crap ASAP. GFWLives or wtf it's called seriously just dropped to rock bottom. It was barely above, but now it's just a sham. One of the greatest things about PC gaming is the ability to host a (non) dedicated server, assuming you have enough bandwidth. WTF MS... WTF.....

edit: i'm still going to pick up the game for $40. certainly glad i'm not paying $60.

Good job i picked this up mainly for a co-op romp and a quick blast over with friends. Seriously though this move from MS is a bad one, more respect lost for them, if they have any left that is.

I just hope they don't get their hands on real PC game deals and dick up gaming even further.

IDK anything about games for windows live. Will one have to pay for Live to play online at all(including co-op)?
