Just upgraded from NF2/Barton/9600xt to a 3800+X2, NF2-nView combo. My plan is to wait for a fine deal on a 7900GS or better (oblivion worthy) card.

In the meantime, what can I expect from the integrated graphics? I am hoping the big increase in CPU power will make up for any shortfall. Not doing much heavy gaming, but I was curious.

I the 6150 is definitely a downgrade , but not as bad as im making it sound. 6150 is still pretty recent for integrated. Realistically I wouldnt expect to run any games on anything higher than low/lowest that were released after ~2000-2002. With that said theres alot of great games that arent graphics powerhouses that people still play online.

At lower res your bound to be CPU limited (i.e seeing higher performance due to having a more powerful CPU).

But DONT expect miracles.

Surprisingly, I have just finished Prince Of Persia - Sands Of Time (2003) with my 6150 IG. all settings at max, including trilinear filtering...Resolution 800x600...No slowdowns at all... Very enjoyable on my 17-inch CRT

And I just started playing Tomb Raider Legend (2006). No next generation graphics :disgust: standard graphics at max settings...No AA...800x600...Not a hint of slowdown...Again the 6150 does a good enough job with this game to make me wait for the new 8600 series before getting a discrete video card.

Last Tomb Raider game I played was on a PS1. So, even though serious gamers would never think about using my settings, for me the 6150 provides a visible improvement from the PS1.

You deserve a round of applause of braving gaming with a 6150.

Believe me, once you get an 8600, you will be blown away!

Downgrade. The Radeon 9600 non-Pro/XT is X300, Radeon 9600 Pro is 50% faster, and 9600XT is 10-20% faster from the Pro. There is a 64-bit memory version of the X300 called X300 SE. GF6150 is roughly equivalent to the X300SE. You'll be GPU limited in most of the games.

Though I must say you may be able to play if your definition of "playability" is really low. Most of the people in Anandtech think anything less than 100fps is low, some people can stand 15 fps.

Discrete graphics double in performance every year.
Integrated graphics increases less than 50% every year.

I have a friend w/6100 (basically the same thing) integrated graphics and a Sempron 3100+. It played some of his games decently on mid/low detail, but he wanted something a bit more reasonable, so now he is running a 7300GS he got from newegg for $50 Runs really well at the res and detail he wants.
