I have read that it is scheduled for June 2006.
How true is this?
the Geforce 8 series will be out way before Vista. Geforce 8 will be DX10 compatible but will you just have to wait until Vista to utilise those features. the Geforce 8 series will of course be able to run DX9 in Windows XP. by the time Vista comes out there will probably already be a refresh of the 8 series cardsOriginally posted by: A554SS1N

At the absolute earliest, you'd think going on the every 6 month cycle that it would be August/September, but tbh, GeForce 8 will have to be DX10, and that will only be made available when Windows Vista comes out, which could be into 2007... more likely, another GeForce 7 card will come out inbetween, if required.

2) I live in India and the cost of 7900GTX is around Rs.32000 and the 1900XT for about Rs.37000. 1 USD = Rs. 45

DX10 only works under Vista, so it will not work on XP ever.1. Will DX10 come out before Vista? Or does DX10 work only under Vista?
Yes, because both ATI and NV have the DX10 spec, so they can design cards in advance and potentially release them before DX10 is available to the public.2. Can a card be DX10-compatible before DX10 is even released?

When will geforce 8 be out?
There is no point if it isn't out by June-July.

We don't know. However, I think most people would disagree with you... IMO, there really isn't much point to a DX10 card before DX10 is available and there are actually games that can use it.When will geforce 8 be out?

Probably depends on the game... I'm with you on that 7900GT though, there are a lot of people on this board who rave about them, but I wasn't very impressed with the 7900GT SLI set (eVGA CO SC) I had. Not only did they only peform about as well as a single X1900XTX, but they were much less stable.1) A 7900GT isn't good enough to play games even at 1280*1024 without aa and af. $814USD for an X1900XT... damn...2) I live in India and the cost of 7900GTX is around Rs.32000 and the 1900XT for about Rs.37000. 1 USD = Rs. 45
If you want a decent computer, all your components have to be decent, not just some of them...3) 1900XT uses more power supply and in that case I may need to go in for a new one leading to a price difference of almost 150-200$.
Depends on what you bench... Most of the newer games play better on the X1900XT from what I've seen. Honestly, the cards are generally pretty closely matched. I see the pattern here though, and you sound like you want a NV card... So, get a NV card...4)According to most benchmarks, the 7900GTX beats the 1900XT.
The A8N-E is a PCI-E motherboard...5) By the way is there any way to check whether a mobo has an agp/pci e slot without opening the cabinet?
Not sure what you're asking...6)Please answer the power requirement question?
