Geforce2 GTS setup help

I just got a GTS a couple weeks ago and everything is fine, but I am wondering if I have it configured optimally. I'm playing CS at 1024x768x32, my FPS flutters around, so I changed fps_max until I got a solid lock. It was solid at 68. I know that CS is capped at 72 and it's not all that important to have a super high number for this game but with my system shouldn't I be able to peg it at say 100? I'd like to get any "bugs" ironed out so if I pop in say T2, it runs good. I followed the GeforceFAQ and set my BIOS up to what it says should be optimal. Aperature size was defaulted to 64 and I left it there. Any ideas?? Thanks

I did do that, that's my problem, it still flutters around 68, won't go any higher and I think it should. I just talked to a friend that has a MX on a Athlon 1.1. He's running at a higher resolution than me and his pegs at 72. Is my processor limiting me that much?

The Duron should be fast (enough).

You're using OpenGL right? Try 16 bit color instead of 32.

If you haven't already disable Vsync in the OpenGL Properties under Windows Display if you are using OpenGL.

Yeah, I was also thinking it's the 32bit color.

Yep, I'm using OpenGL. That's right, I did read about disabling vsync, just forgot to do it! Is the 32 bit color taxing the system that much?

Also, I'm running PODBot when I'm checking this so the 'net isn't a factor.

Get detonator 6.50 from nvidia's website and nvmax from nvmax.com or any other related site and start testing.Got mine working just fine,but if you're serious about CS,play it in 640x480 OpenGL 16 bit,no AA.That's how all major CS players do it and it rocks.Also,it is easier to see the crosshair.

how do you change the colour depth in half-life? I know its a stupid question, but i cant seem to figure it out

Got mine working just fine,but if you're serious about CS,play it in 640x480 OpenGL 16 bit,no AA.That's how all major CS players do it and it rocks.Also,it is easier to see the crosshair.

Somehow I doubt that 'all major CS players' play at 640x480:
1) without AA, it is damn ugly2
2) crosshair is too big
3) text is annoying big
4) you can get 100 fps easily with a duron 800 and TNT2 at 1024x768

Is this your setup?

As far as color depth settings. If you have a nVidia card, you can specify what your color depth should be for OpenGL, same as desktop, 16bit, 32bit, etc. I'm sure you can with other cards too, but don't know.
