GeForce2 Pro question?

I have read in many other posts about the 2d problems that the GeForce2 Pro has. I was wondering if the GeForce2 GTS has the same problem. I have a friend who has that card and if the GeForce2 Pro will do 2d as well (or as badly) as the GeForce2 GTS then I will just have a look at my friend's 2d quality on his box to determine if I can stand the 2d on a GeForce2 Pro.

I know many of you would recommend a KyroII or a Ati Radeon card. But I run linux as my main OS. I only boot into windows for games that wont play in linux or dont have a linux port. I know ATI has no linux drivers, I am checking on the KyroII (if anyone knows let me know). But Nvidia has developed there own drivers for linux. They are the real thing, a nice nvidia kernel module and GLX extensions so I can have true hardware acceleration. If ATI comes out with linux drivers, I'm sold. But as it is I have to stick with Nvidia. If any one could help me on my GeForce question I would appreciate it. Thanks.

visontek or an elsa for the best 2d quaily from what i understand. i guess inno has some good 2d too but i havent seen thier cards prersonaly. then again i saw a leadtek that looked just fine so im not realy sure who the best of the bunch is. realy you best bet is to buy somewhere you can try it first or return it if there is a problem.

In answer to your original question, I think it depends a little on the company. If your buddy has an Elsa and your going to buy a no name brand, then you might see a bit of difference just between companies. But your right in assuming that most GTS's (regular or pro or ultra) have ~about~ the same 2d.

I agree with The Snowman - If your unsure, go buy it from a store with a good return policy.. I've returned a Voodoo Banshee, G400 and a MSI GTS all because the cards didn't live up to my expectations.
