it will use a normal cooler
seemingly, nvidia decided not to use the flowfx due to its extra features(vaccum cleaner, dustbuster, leaf blower, hair dryer)

yay...
that's a great news

I want to get the fx series, but the flowfx (a.k.a. dustbuster, vacum cleaner, leafblower, hairdrayer, and one more: SPORT MUFFLER) holds me back
haaha...
cos i prefer less powerful (but not that powerless) and more quiet video card

The GF FX really disappointed me. I held off on the Radeon 9700 Pro expecting the FX to be incrementally better than the 9700... Now I wait for the NV35.

Now that's a fan... avoids the best video card on the market for ANOTHER six months just to get an nVidia card.

It is true that I do prefer nVidia cards, I have had great experience with them and a long track record as well. Just as with AMD chips. I go with what I know. I hope this doesn't make me a fanboi. I stay out of the flame wars.

You should give ATi a shot. They have completely changed themselves from the early days of the Radeon. Definately an excellent company with a great product (as is Nvidia).

I've never been brand loyal, I'm the "what have you done for me lately" type. If company A produces a better price/performance/noise ratio product than company B I buy from A and if C beats 'em both the same.

After the mishap at Comdex, FlowFX has been axed. The NV PR machine has done a good job of covering this up, but if you know what to look for you can find the details... Lets just say that a search for "Midget dismemberment" & "Comdex" would be a good start.

Hey stan
Invest in a 9700pro, you can find them built by ati on retail shelves for $299, just go to compusa buy the product upgrade plan for $20 and once you get bored of the card go return it for what is best at the time.
Also you won't see any performance difference between the ATI and the FX just save yourself a few bucks
