General Hiccups(?) on my computer

All, I have sort of a baffling issue that I'd like to have resolved.

Every now and then, probably about every minute or two, my computer "hiccups" (for lack of a better term) for about a 100th of a second. That doesn't seem like much time wise but the result is noticeable and annoying enough since it happens all the time.

Any sound (from mp3s, videos, games) that is playing at the same creates a small snap/crackle/pop sound when it happens.

Video also has the same type of almost negligible but still annoying stutter - Youtube, mkv files, actual video game footage, all sort of "pause" ever so slightly.

Obviously, audio/video is the best way to detect it but I'm wondering if it's just a problem in general with my system.

Here's my specs:

Windows 7 64-bit
ASUS p8p67
i7-2600k OC'd to 4.5 ghz (stable)
8 gigs GSKILL ram
nVidia GTX 570

I've gotten rid of (what I think to be) all the unnecessary background services/processes and it still happens. Any thoughts on what can be done here? Need any additional specs?

I had a strange problem much like that one with an older S939 board with an NV chipset, using NV onboard graphics. I never quite solved the problem. I replaced/decommissioned that computer, and sold it to someone for $50.

You try resetting bios back to default? I realize your combo should easily be capable of the OC you have on it but I'm suggesting default settings just to rule it out as a possible problem.

Next, for me, would be to swap lead or possibly rail for hard drive power. I'd probably disconnect any non-critical components too while I was in there, like cd/dvd/blu ray, combo drives, backups drives.

I'd start unplugging any peripherals not mission critical too. Printers, usb sticks, speakers, etc.

Got any fans inside case that cycle?

Well - I discovered the source of the problem. It's my wireless network adapter. I'm not sure if it's a radio frequency issue or a data transfer issue or what, but regardless, whenever it's running, the hiccups happen.

Ideas?
