I have always been Republican but the new administration will be something like we have not seen before. I support change but within limits and hopefully with compromise.

You have to admit, Bush and Reagan are not Trump. Trump is only in it for Trump and if he has to sacrifice the country to get his way, so be it.

Who else would rally people to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power just to save face?

Who else would make deals while in the WH to favor his business interests? One was recently announced with Saudi Arabia to build data centers.

Who else would call for the ban of TickToc but then suddenly oppose it now that a billionaire political donor and part owner of TT is asking to stop it?

I am curious as to how you obtained this information? 97% of your fellow Republicans do not seem to get these news at least not in a believable format...

Admit it? My dude, I've been very vocal about how Trump is only in it for Trump for years.
It's nice that you've maybe come around, now that it may be too little too late, spread the word to your fellow true believers that this Trump guy might actually be kinda bad for America. And do remember the poem "First they came..." because you may eventually find you're on that list too.

Former White House official and political strategist David Axelrod posted about how former presidents John F. Kennedy and Barack Obama also braved frigid temperatures for their inaugurations.

“In ’61, John F. Kennedy was Inaugurated on the Capitol steps, in windchills of 7 degrees. It was almost as cold for Obama in ’09,” he said. “In fairness, Trump IS more than 3 decades older than JFK & Obama were. Or did he just fear small crowds?”

I mean, I don't know - Trump is a very old man, and old people are at increased risk of hypothermia (probably his supporters, and hence his potential attendees, are disproportionately elderly as well). So the criticism probably is just that - trolling and winding him up.

But it does also seem that this potentially side-steps his chronic anxiety about crowd-size.

[Edit] Was there not a previous President who caught a cold at his inauguration and then almost immediately died of pneumonia?

So it was William Harrison I was thinking of.

Seems pretty dumb to deliver the longest inauguration speech in history in the worst inauguration weather conditions in history. While not wearing a coat. Sunak-style.

Also

At 68 years old, Harrison was the oldest President to take the Oath of Office until President Ronald Reagan in 1981.

The good old days, when 68 was shockingly old for a new President.

But maybe it was actually due to the insufficient environmental regulations at the time? What are Trump's plans for the EPA, again?

a paper published in the October 2014 issue of the journal of Clinical Infectious Diseases published by Oxford Academic claims that President Harrison's death was caused by an enteric fever brought on by the poor sanitation conditions in Washington, D.C. at the time.

The same people that think it’s too cold to hold the inauguration outdoors, want to take over Greenland? "Look how cold it was. Nobody knew how cold it was!"

With that sort of cowardice towards a little cold and wind, he’s clearly no William Henry Harrison. Shit! ... If Old Tippecanoe can get inaugurated outside in the cold, surely a stronger, healthier Trump can as well.

Folks are asking for refunds on their inauguration tickets after the recent cold-weather changes. It’s cute that they assume the tight and tiny-fisted Trump would refund them. I’m now imagining the VP putting out rows of chairs in a nearby village hall.

I Wonder what all those 7800 National Guard folks are going to do. Form a big fucking thick ring around the building and freeze their asses off?

It’s poetic that he will be inaugurated in the place where his coup attempt became public. An attempt that has ultimately been successful. It just took four years of bullshitting and brainwashing 77 million people to pull off.

Either FDDC account has been taken over by a slightly less than far-right hacker or after then of thousands of posts and millions of actual news articles, they are finally realizing what has been said all along. Republicans created the atmosphere for Trump to ascend to their supreme leader. And they love it.

I am always skeptical, but I hope for their sanity, FDC has achieved some level of awareness and understands what the Republican party has evolved to. This isn't Trump alone, they are all falling in line.

The Republican congressman who Johnson booted from the Intel committee at Trump’s order because he is critical of Putin, Pro Ukraine and pushed back against Trumps bullshit that Haitians were eating peoples pet cats and dogs and won't completely kiss his ass and ring is going on strike.

Trump doesn't believe Turner is loyal enough. You can’t let someone get in the way of doing everything that Putin wants the US to do. Jan 20 is when we switch sides in the Ukraine war. Mike Turner presented an obstacle. Putin told Trump he had to go. Republicans were the ones that wanted a supreme leader. And they got exactly what they voted for.

Mike Johnson seems not to understand that we have 3 branches of government.... that are equal but separate. Johnson has taken away that separation by allowing the executive to rule the legislative branch. what could possibly go wrong?

And as usual, the entire party including “Speaker” Johnson, is petrified about saying anything publicly that might anger the King, so they sit by silently, and go right along with it.

We'll see if this Turner has balls and holds his ground. (And is able to persuade a few other people to go along with him) Now MAGA can only lose one single vote in the house. We have to remember though, this IS a cult we have here. I predict he will eventually fold and vote for whatever Trump wants. And he will still get primaried in 2026.

It’s probably the result of some kind of cosmic counter-balancing against Greenman, who having not voted for Trump the first two times, watched 10 years of pathological lying, progressive descent in dementia, countless criminal and civil case losses, stealing and stashing and sharing top secret documents, fomenting an insurrection, incredible embarrassing incompetence at practically everything, and thought, “I was wrong about this guy, I trust him to run the country.”

Who knew it was horribly cold most of the time in mid January in DC.

Trump is going to have to brag about something that day. Given his habit of blowing up numbers to suit his blown up ego, he's going to come up with some outrageously stupid self-glorifying figures. I'm actually impressed about how he gets away with coughing up such blatant bullshit as if it's perfectly fine to be such an oafish teller of tall tales.

You'd think he'd realize what a moron he makes himself out to be, yet for some amazing transformative reason, his being that way is endearing to his MAGATs.

Let me know when FDC stops voting for Republicans and starts voting for Democrats. Until then, it's all mostly meaningless.

Dude what's up with you.. you're more into conspiracy theories than conspiracytards.

He's said a couple of times he's voted Harris and dems.

I don't think anyone in their right mind would vote for President Dumbass TURD.

Lol 1 million attended!!!

Yes! ...and Kamalah said she was glad I won and confided in her concession call that she actually voted for yours truly.

That is why I am going to sponsor an amendment to the Constitution allowing all Americans to vote for me as many times as they like in the next election.

What the hell does conspiracy theory have to do with anything here. Literally zero. It's just babbling from your keyboard at this point.

No I haven't seen Felix claim he voted for Kamala. Sue me.

Just a hunch but I'm guessing that Trump and his first lady Elon have decided that large groups of the public are to be avoided post Luigi!

I voted for Trump twice. The third time was not going to be the charm.

I've voted Republican since 1988 and this was the first time for a democrat. And this despite being opposed to her policies on immigration, law enforcement, legalization of weed, etc. It was just the lesser of the two bad choices.

He doesn't have to brag about collecting the most money ever at an inauguration, that's for sure.

This is quite literally the plan, Project 2025, the unitary executive, and a government full of vetted sycophants willing to disregard the rule of law to carry out orders.
