If im getting a 2500K, what advantages will I have going for Z77 rather than Z68?

z77 is the better choice because it has native usb 3.0, Sata 6.0 on chip, support for ivy bridge(future upgrades) , pcie 3.0, SSD caching.
The overall performance of the two chipsets in the real world is pretty similar and if you already had a z68 board I don't see the reason to upgrade.
If you're buying new though I would go with the newer chipset.
If you are buying new, Z77 without question.
Do you mean Sata 3.0 (6Gb/s)? Or is this something newer, because they both have that? AFAIK z68 has IB support with bios updates pretty standard. USB/PCIe 3 might come in handy in the future..
Are those all the differences?
Thats not how I go about buying new things (nor should anyone). I ask many questions
The z68 and the z77 both have usb 3.0 and sata 6 the difference is the z77 has those native to the chipset means you don't need a separate controller. It's also built for Ivy Bridge so it will better support an upgrade path.
The differences aren't mind blowing or drastic just minor to make things work more smoothly.
Again i'll reiterate if you have a z68 board keep it. If not get a z77
What is it you are doing with your computer than you need to buy such old tech? Do you have to have 4 cores? ...or are you trying to OC?
Why would I get a z series if I wasnt going to OC
