Ghost Recon won't install

I recently got a laptop. P4M 1.9, 512mb ddr, XP Home, Mobility Radeon 9000, 30GB HD. I can get setup to run but it won't actually install. The progress bar won't even begin to move after 5 minutes. I still have 50% HD space remaining.

Are you using a burner to try and install the game with? The copyright protection gives CD-RW and DVD burners problems. Can you stick a regular CD-ROM into your laptop? Also GR was not designed to be played on a laptop tho you may get it to run. If you need more help visit the GR.net forums (see sig) for more help.

It is a DVD/CDRW combo drive. I don't have any other drives. I can get other games to install just fine. Don't know why GR won't.

As I said earlier, the copyright protection causes problems with reading it. Splinter Cell for PC is having the same problems. Try this, copy and paste everything from the CD to a folder and try to install it from there. You will still have to have the CD in the drive to play it. Failing that, get a cheap CD-ROM (I just got a Lite-On 52x for $27 last month when I bought the new parts for my rig) and install it and go from there. I don't know how much one would run for a laptop tho. Do you have to play it on a laptop? Do you have a regular PC you can play it on?

I have a desktop also. I was wanting to put it on the laptop so I can play it while traveling or something of that sort.

I thought as much. How hard is it to swap drives out in a laptop? Visit us at GR.net and see if some of our other regular computer guys can help ya out.

BTW did you try the copy and paste method of installation?

Copying the files over then running the install from there worked. Thanks for the help. I'll have to remember that next time I have trouble with something like that or if someone else asks the same question I did.
