People use the * as a crutch, due to the fact that their teams are so far inferior to the Pats it's a joke. They need to make themselves feel better.

Anyways, perfection only comes at 19-0.

It means they were caught and penalized for cheating. Anything they achieve this year will be tainted. It's funny how those on the bandwagon choose to ignore this.

Whatever happened to "Cheaters never prosper"? (Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, etc.) Cheating truly is ruining pro sports.

Tell me, what competitive advantage did the Patriots receive THIS YEAR from getting caught using cameras in the 1st quarter of the 1st game of the season? They did not even have a chance to take a look at the tape. You comparing this to steroids makes you look retarded (oh wait, you ARE retarded).

Cheating is cheating, period. Whether it's steroids or taping another team, it's cheating. I'm sure that's simple enough for even you to understand.

You're making a retarded comparison. What advantage did the Patriots receive from taping THIS YEAR. The Patriots were not able to gain any advantage because they were 'lucky' to be caught in the 1st quarter of the 1st game rather than later. As soon as you inject yourself with steroids, you receive an advantage. The comparison you're making is stupid. Nothing they achieved this year is tainted. Even Alistar (who is no pats lover) can make this distinction. You can debate previous years, but to say anything is tainted this year is stupid, just like you.

It seems the commissioner of the NFL disagrees with you.

What's with the childish responses? Can't you make your point without name calling?

You're arguing 2 different things. They broke a rule and paid for it... BUT, the commissioner stated they received no competitive advantage over it and had no impact on the Jets game. None of the Patriots wins were 'aided' in any way this season.

And i name call stupid people such as yourself.

I only love one team (Pitt), and only hate one (Cleveland). The rest are nothing more than the other NFL teams and there is more of a rivalry between Pitt and the Boys/Raiders/Ravens than there will ever be with NE. They are a flash in the pan with no history, once Brady is retired they will go back to what they were before, nothing.

BB is highly over rated, now that his taping has been stopped we see part of that legacy faltering, his halftime adjustments suck now. He did squat in C-town with the same person acquiring talent for him as when the team moved to Balt (Newsome). Many of those same players won a SB a few years later with a different coach. He did nothing special in NE until Brady was under center. Part of what cements a coach's legacy is the so called coaching tree. Brown/Landry/Noll/Shula/Walsh all had assistants that went on to great success with other teams, and likewise produced other coaches that did the same. Where are BB's proteges, what have they won?

Phokus I like how you completely ignored the admitted use of HGH by Harrison, can you prove that gave them no competitive advantage this season?

Cave, take away the two mistakes by Smith, add 4 points for Ben missing a wide open Holmes on the first drive, and add 3 for the FG they would have kicked after driving to the 1 yard line instead of going for the TD, you have a TIE game in the 4th. All mistakes by Pitt, those were the 4 plays that turned the game in NE's favor. NE did not shut down Pitt's offense in the second half and did not move the ball consistenly until Townsend went down.

You must have missed that finer point of the game, the Pats O Cord did not as they went to Welker immediately and often after that injury. He, and their passing game outside of the two mistakes by Smith, had been shut down until that point. What were the rushing totals for that game, 188-22, most of that gained by Pitt when the game was still on the line. That & the fact the injured players Pitt sorely missed in that game are back are why I would love to see them play this January.

Keep telling yourself that the Miami game was the only instance of the Pats not making the same level of halftime adjustments they had displayed until the taping was stopped this season. I guess that was the same scenario in the Beagles & Ravens game, over at the half. What flavor is the kool aid this week BTW?

Brady's win/loss record has been pretty spotless in cold weather, but that team record does not tell the whole story.

Text

in his home December games over the past five years, Brady has thrown three or more TDs just twice. He's only put up one 300-yard game.

A finesse passing offense is not exactly suited for late season, poor weather games. While I would enjoy seeing any team (other than Cleveland) have an undefeated season/postseason I see NE falling short due to that reason.

Discussing football with NE fans is similar to talking physics with a 1st year Oral Roberts student. Pardon me while I excuse myself from the ignorance.....

Yeah, his halftime adjustments sure do suck. Going 15-0 and shit. That's pretty horrid if you ask me. Hopefully he gets fired and we make a run at "Mangenius" isgust;

Alistar7 - Please research the 4th Qtr of every close game that the Pats have had. They've shutdown the opposition. Eagles, Ravens, Steelers, Indy, Dallas, etc.

Two punts and two failed 4th downs by the Steelers in the 2nd half compared to the Pats scoring on three straight drives and killing the clock on the 4th drive in the 2nd half tells you who made adjustments and who did not. All you can come up with lots of excuses. I would love a Jan game against the Steelers. The Steelers pathetic road record, measly 8 rushing touchdowns, injuries and inexperienced coaching will make it an easy game for the Pats.

Yes, the taping has really hurt the Pats this season. They only have the number one offense and tied for the number one defense this season.

Why? They weren't the preseason pick to win the SB.

Because going 16-0 in the regular season and not winning the SB would be pretty embarrassing.

I hate the Pats, but let's all be honest, they're excellent and the cheating thing probably didn't help them. They're the best team in the NFL.

This game of football takes place on a date which is full of significance for the American people. Four years have passed since the beginning of that great internal revolution which in the meantime has been giving a new aspect to American life. This is the period of four years which the NFL asked the American people to grant them for the purpose of putting thei work to the test and submitting it to their judgment. Hence at the present moment nothing could be more opportune than the Patriots to render you an account of all the successes that have been achieved and the progress that has been made during these four years, for the welfare of football fans. But within the limits of the short statement I have to make it would be entirely impossible to enumerate all the remarkable results that have been reached during a time which may be looked upon as probably the most astounding epoch in the life of our people. That task belongs rather to the sports press and the propaganda. Moreover, during the course of the present year there will be an Exposition in New York which is being organized for the purpose of giving a more comprehensive and detailed picture of the works that have been completed, the results that have been obtained and the projects on which work has been begun, all of which can be explained better in this way than I could do it within the limits of an address that is to last for just a few lines. Therefore I shall utilize the opportunity afforded me by this historic meeting of the Anandtech members to cast a glance back over the past four years and call attention to some of the new knowledge that we have gained, some of the experiences which we have been through, and the consequences that have resulted therefrom?in so far as there have a general validity. It is important that we should understand them clearly, not only for our own sake but also for that of the generations to come. The Patriots will lose to the Giants on Saturday.

please, you've displayed your ignorance in every ball thread i've read. you're a long-winded, say nothing stat whoring steeler homer.

i love the way you try to find any little twist to disparage the pats while claiming to be unbiased. "belichick did nothing in NE until brady was under center". they came to NE the same freaking year!

and the pats shutout the steelers in the second half, 17-0. but yeah, you out-rushed us, lol. nicely done. i don't rmember TOP or average starting field position, i'm sure you have iut on your fridge, secured with a little steelers helmet magnet.

for someone who apparently spends alot of time reading/watching football, you know surprisingly little about the game.

As a huge, huge Steelers fan, I have to say that the second half of that game was embarrassing. The Pats found a weakness and exploited it. They did make half time adjustments that the Steelers could have countered after the first NE drive of the second half but they didn't. However, with Polomalu out, they didn't have the same presence on D or the ability to counter it. IF they meet again, look for Pitt CBs to jam more on the line to take away the quick hitters and have the confidence that if a receiver gets behind a CB...Polomalu will be there to cover up the mistake. Anthony Smith will return to being a nickel/dime back and the defense will look drastically different.

I think that the first half of the game showed that the Steelers are more than capable of playing with the Pats and I think that Parker's injury will actually help Pitt more than it will hurt them. I don't mean that to sound like he won't be missed, but Roethlisberger has been the nuts this year and relying more on him during the playoffs should help the team. The guy has been sacked 47 times this year and still has a 32/11 TD/Int ratio. If the o-line can find any semblance of a blocking scheme, they will surprise teams.

Oh, and on the Belichick front, the guy was 5-11 coach in Cleveland and was a 5-11 coach in NE until the "unfortunate" injury to Bledsoe got Brady into games. Brady fell into Belichicks lap. The front office took a flyer on him. If they truly believed that he had the potential to be the QB that he has turned out to be....they wouldn't have waited 6 rounds to pick him and they wouldn't have started Bledsoe in front of him.

It reminds me of an old quote rumored to be from Rocky Blier about their coach....."I wouldn't say that we won because of Chuck Noll....I'd say that we won in spite of Chuck Noll".

So, I assume you condemn every other team in the NFL since they also use such tactics and also condemn all of the players that use steroids and hgh. Or are you just a hypocrite?
