Gigabyte EP45-DQ6 won't post

I used the computer all day, turned it off (proper shut-down) for about 2 hours, and when I came back, it won't post.

When I press the power button, the fans spin up, and it clicks like it's going to turn on, but then it doesn't get off the ground. No beep, and the fans slow to a stop, and it doesn't post.

It doesn't beep, but there are 4 LEDs which remain illuminated on the board.

I tried unplugging everything except for the power cable in the back, and unplugging all of the drives. I've taken out all of the PCI cards. I've tried taking the battery out and resetting CMOS several times. I had 4 sticks of RAM and I've tried using just two in every combination of the 4 sticks. Same behavior...

I don't have any extra motherboards, power supplies or memory around, so I'm wondering what I should buy to try next? Is it most likely a dead Power supply, motherboard, or something else?

According to your manual there are 7 diagnostic leds AND 4 ACPI leds. Which remain illuminated?

yeah definitely try another PSU.
I had an EP45 board whose bios corrupted after a power outtage, sent it in and gigabyte fixed it.
I suppose it's possible yours had a similar problem, maybe a dead cmos battery, dunno.
If all else fails you could send it in for repair, I think gigabyte has a 3yr or longer warranty for that stuff (might just be cheaper to buy a new motherboard tho).

Magnus, the lights that stay lit are one of the red lights next to the memory that says S3, and two (orange and green) lights labeled MD1 and MD2 (I think -- not in front of it right now). None of the LEDs are blinking, just solid.

Soulkeeper, I bought this motherboard in 2008, so probably no-go on the warranty.

Thoughts?

maybe it is booting, but it's hanging on keyboard error
try a different keyboard
also try pressing/holding down the insert key while booting. often times this will force booting safe options.

when you say "and the fans slow to a stop" do you mean they completely stop, or just slow down real low ?

Yeah, I suppose it could be a keyboard error. I'll try that tonight. It's a USB keyboard. I'm assuming if there was no recognized keyboard, I would at least get a beep code, or something would appear on the screen.

The fans do stop completely. They don't suddenly halt, but they go from running to stopping in about 5 seconds.
