Yes, you want it in the "off" postion for a 133mhz(266mhz DDR) FSB. Send me a private message if you need more help with setting everything up or with any bios settings. I'll also monitor this thread too.

Edit:

Yes, leave the ratio switches on the defualt settings as your XP CPU is locked so you can not change the multiplier anyway.

This is kinda related, but kinda not...the USB on this board...there are two onboard and you can extend that to either four usb ports, or six usb 2.0 ports, so...what's usb 2.0? I assume it's better, but why? Which should I use?

usb2.0 is better. it's newer obviously. it's like 4x faster than usb1.1 i believe. something like 54mb/s tranfer rate or something and it's backwards compatible so use the usb2.0 expansion and you should be fine. most new stuff coming out will either be usb2.0 or firewire. mostly usb2.0 since it's faster than firewire.

Actually, I believe USB 2.0 supports transfer speeds up to 480Mbps. This is even slightly faster than the firewire technology which supports 400Mbps. With numbers like that, I'd say don't even bother with USB 1.1.

Insane, back to your little side note...if the CPU is locked, why do motherboard manufacturers include the option to change the multipliers?

For overclockers.

It isn't all that hard to unlock the processor with a little kit from an automotive store. You can then change the multipliers on the board.

Just wondering everyone, I've been wanting to get this board for a while now. Does everyone w/this board wait like 30secs. during bootup while the BIOS goes through all the RAID detection and all? Is this a problem for anybody? I'm not sure if I want to to a RAID setup right away, I was thinking about putting everything on it's own channel as master first, anybody do this also?

I don't use raid. I figure, if you're gonna pay for the harddrive space, why rip yourself off by only using half of it

I have an 7vrxp board and it only takes no more than 3 seconds for raid to locate drives. I have them setup as ata. it takes less than 30 seconds for windows to boot up. On other forums with people I talked to, it is not taking them every long on boot. If anyone is taking a long time to boot up, bios must not be setup right

hey over...got a question that i hope you can help me with...One out of every ten times i boot up, my bios gives me a message that says my secondary slave (Lite-on 12x10x32 cdr/rw drive) is not atapi compatible. When it does this, i press f1 to continue, windows boots up just fine, but my cdr/rw drive is present but unusable, but when i restart, i get no such message and my drive works just fine...How do I fix this?

I just picked up a 7VXRP for my first homebuilt computer system. Would someone please confirm that the proper holes for the standoff screws are the six silver ringed ones (with stamped pimples), such as the hole right next to the game and audio port? I would really hate to short my system out by putting the screws in the wrong place. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

yup. My case didn't have a standoff for the hole by the ATA ports, but you got it right.

Well, people ignored me the first time, so I'm reposting....One out of every ten times i boot up, my bios gives me a message that says my secondary slave (Lite-on 12x10x32 cdr/rw drive) is not atapi compatible. When it does this, i press f1 to continue, windows boots up just fine, but my cdr/rw drive is present but unusable, but when i restart, i get no such message and my drive works just fine...How do I fix this?

Thanks. Hope Kcbass doesn't mind I am about to hijack this thread to try to get a few more questions of my own answered! (Upgrading from an AT case, how the world has changed!)

1. In matching up the speaker and led cables (the F_Panel according to Gigabyte), I seem to get everything ok except I am left with the PD+/PD_G/PD-Y on the motherboard but only two one hole wires marked P+, P-. Am I missing a cable or am I supposed to ignore one of the connectors?

2. My case (a Foxconn supercase ordered from Newegg) supplies a front USB port with a cable coming off it. This cable is a flat four hole plug with a separate one hole ground wire. The backplate supplied by Gigabyte is totally different being a double set of 3 with a blank plus 1. (Oops, think I just answered my own question -- the Gigabyte one is for a double usb connection (ie it is the equivalent of both of my case wires put together), please confirm).

3. My case (I probably should stick these questions in a different forum, but I am going to seek my help here) has the normal floppy, IDE and Atx power connectors, but there is also a connector that looks the ATX one, but instead of being 10 or so by 2 holes is only 2 x 2. Can someone identify this connector?

4. Is there a difference between the USB 1.1 and USB 2 wires? If I put the front USB wires from my case into the USB 2 connection on the motherboard, am I just wasting my time (or worse), or will I actually get USB 2 access from the front of the case?

Think that's all for now. Again, thanks for the help.

for one thing get your cd-rw off secondary slave and onto secondary master. Make sure to set your jumpers correctly once more.
