better to have ur CD-RW alone, but at least definitely put it on secondary master. If you don't have anything on primary slave, put ur dvd on that.

I'd like to hear more input no the GA-7VXRP also. Seems like all the static about this board has quieted down (is that a word?) lately. So what's the word, has Gigabyte finally ironed out all those bugs in the new revision now? I've been patiently waiting to get this board, it was shaky for a while but it seems that it's back on people's happy list?

I just got this board and, the only complaints I have is the RAID controller is very limited as noted in the review here on AnandTech. No matter what perfomance setting I set for the array, mine uses a 64K stripe. I really want to run a 4k Stripe. = (
Too bad they didn't put a Highpoint controller on it.
Other than that it seems to be running stable and benchmarks pretty fast.

I have the revision 2.0 board and as long as you don't connect your drive to IDE3 or IDE4 port and just use IDE1 & 2, you shouldn't have to wait the few seconds it takes for it to detect the drives. I haven't tested that though, I'm using the RAID controller (one main reason I bought this board, even if I have to live with a 64k stipe.)

wahey! great thread- i was gonna ask about the 7BRXP (which is the proper name btw, well in the UK) cause my the guys in the local comp' store were raving about it being much better btw Asus A7V333 but i thought they were just trying to flog it to me but after research with all the USB 2.0 ports this board is great.....isnt it?

Yea, the GA-7VRXP is a great board, as long as you get the Rev. 2.0. I have the Rev. 2.0 and it's awesome, and i've had zero problems with it, and that's at 169FSBx9.5=1605(unlocked 1800), with memory timings maxed out except for top per. The early revisions did kind of suck, but the 2.0 in my opinion is awesome. I'd buy it over the Epox board again.

Just bought this board about half a month ago after my MSI one died on me, and found out that this board doesn't really work with my video card (a rather old one). My computer would freeze and then restart itself whenever I try to view video clips online, or if I try to view DVD. Bottom line is, computer would crash whenever any video-related event (program, webpage, video) is fired up. I tried 4 different versions of nVidia detonator drivers already, and none of them solve the problem. Finally I did a fresh install of Windows XP, and the very very first time Windows XP is started up, it gives me an error saying the Video driver is causing instability. I tried everything, tweaking the AGP settings in the BIOS, adjusted the voltage, underclock the CPU, have a fan blowing into the case (thought it might be heat-related)..., but to no avail. Anyone has any suggestion before I have to return this motherboard?! By the way, in case that I do need to return my motherboard (since I don't want to spend money again to buy a new video card), what will be a good one?!

My video card is MSI Starforce 831 - GeForce2 Pro 64mb
