When I was a young buck, back in the Pleistocene period, I had the hots for Gloria Steinem, because smart is sexy and values trump all (plus she was fairly easy on the eyes for a non-starlet/underwear model.)
Time marches on . . . balls sag, boobs sag, and you get the face you deserve.
Gloria Steinem is now 81 freaking years old, and she is still, with intelligence, erudition and poise, standing up for what she believes in.
She's backing Hilary Clinton, and I know that the same posters here who reflexively call Ms. Clinton Hildabeast will now pour in here and reflexively savage Gloria Steinem. This is P&N, where the ugliest and most primitive voices can tend to stand out and raise your blood pressure. Sadly, there's no way 'round that.
Now, I love Bernie Sanders, and there is no candidate on either side who most espouses my hopes and dreams for our Republic, but I'm voting for Hilary Clinton for president because politics is the art of the possible, and the most politically possible thing I can contribute my vote to is who will nominate the next Supreme Court candidates in the next 4-8 years.
Anyway, here is Gloria Steinem, a heart throb of mine of yore, speaking with simple grace and intelligence, in a brief interview with Bill Maher.
