Howdy all its been a coons age since I have been here but I finally am going to buy a new computer. My current rig has been great used it for 5 years now without any problems to speak of.

I use to build all my stuff but just don't have the time anymore. I am looking for a prebuilt computer and would like to get a smoking deal with the things I am looking for:

Large LCD monitor
Large hdd maybe raid like I have now
1 gig of ram
dvd burner with light scribe
TV card nice one with HDTV ready and things
PVR would be nice
Windows Media

Anymore I don't think it matters what you get for a processor (Intel VS. AMD) so not to concerned with that. What have you guys seen that looks to be a good deal??

Is the stuff you mentioned coming in a prebuilt machine?? I have neither the inclination or the time to bother putting it together. Besides with some of the prices I see I am not sure you can build anything cheaper than buying.

thekillerjks just basically rattled off his own system specs instead of actually reading your post . I dunno, maybe Dell considering everyone seems to mention their system+LCD deals.

I have been looking at Dell. Some very nice deals. From my little bit of recent research I think I may want to jump ship and go to an AMD processor. I had one of the first athlons and honestly it was junk. My current 1st generation p4 rig has been just wonderful but its time for larger hdds new OS etc. etc.. With there being such wonderful deals on prebuilts I thought I would pick one up and send this old unit packing.

I am not going to wait a month as I will change my mind by then.

Really just looking for some people that are really in the "know" about what and who these computers are. Some of them from what I hear are wonderful machines that will last a long time and be upgradeable down the road. I will probably keep this next computer for 5 years plus as well....

The Athlon X2 slaps the crap out of Intel's Dual Core offerings (this coming from a guy who has an Intel Dual Core).

That being said, it's pretty hard to pass up some of the Dell + LCD deals going on right now.

Sorry the reason I posted my specs are because I did alot of research and narrowed it down to that.

I apologize I didn't see the I don't have time to build one part. All I did was scimmed through it and it basicaly came to me that you needed recomendations on a new PC your building.

*Again I Apologize*

I appreciate the reply and no big deal. Wish I still had the skills and time to play with building one. The one I am typing on now was my last build and it has been absolutely wonderful. I would be very happy to get the same amount of time out of my next system.

I hear ya. Hard to believe amd has passed intel. Like I said I have had wonderful luck with my P4. It has outlasted its life expectancy IMO. I may just put a bigger HDD in it buy a tv card for it, Windows Media and call it good. The reason why I am considering a new machine is a friend just bought an Emachine with all the above options in it for $350 but I haven't been able to find one in stock. That is my 2 cents on it. There are just so many nice prebuilt systems out there I just can't see messing with anything but those.
