Not in the Zalman's case. The AlCu version weighs less, is cheaper, and performs about the same or better than the all copper version. It seems like the copper sucks up the heat and transfers it out to the aluminum, which dissipates heat faster.

i'm happy with my thermalright sp-94
when i bought it it seemed like the best copper P4 heatsink out
then i paired it with the most powerfull 92mm fan i could find (vantec tornado 4800rpm 119cfm) along with an adjustable speed knob
i'm happy with it

I have not tried the others mentioned, but the zalman worked great for me. Lower temps and quiet.
Asus p4p800 and 2.4c at 3.0ghz

Anyone know the differences between the Zalman 6500 and 7000 series coolers? I want to replace my stock heatsink and fan. I don't overclock - I just want something quiet.

6500 is more of a flower shape and has a suspended fan whereas the 7000 is a circular shape and an integrated fan.

I bought the Zalman 7000Cu for my Athlon XP and I think it's great!

This is my recommendation if you're interested in quiet sometimes, and overclocking occasionally. Of course, if you're like me, and have speakers that can drown out any and all fan noise, the 92mm Vantec Tornado and an SP-94 would be all you'd need.

i once heard someone say that the stock high pentium 4's (2.8,3.0,3.2) HS/F's are pretty good. i assume aftermarket stuff is almost always better?

btw, keep the HS/F's coming in, i'm looking into all the suggested ones
