Good CompSci Universities?

University of Illinois at Champaign Urbana,IL.
Brigham Young University, Utah.

These are 2 big universities for Computer Science.

U of I is a little hard to get into the Computer Science department because it is a degree in Electrical Engineering, but not too hard. You have to be at the First Year Calculus level as a college freshmen to survive this program. My son is making a Robot that follows a white line on the floor for his Electronics class. It is very fast paced.

At BYU you have to take the first year requirements before you can apply for computer science department.

I have heard both schools are in the TOP 10 of all Computer Science Departments.

Well, for one thing, I'm transferring in, so I'd come in as either a Sophomore or Junior (depending on how my credits transfer over). Also, I took Multivariable and DiffEq as a freshman (and am now taking a 400-level topics math course), so I don't think I'll have a problem with the math requirement.

What are you talking about? Cornell is in the Ivy League. What you described as the origin of the term also is not true.

I said that Cornell was an Ivy. I inserted the term "technically" because I've come across a lot of people who were surprised to find out that Cornell was part of the Ivy League.

Yeah, the ivy league schools are technically the 8 determined by the sports league. But most people that I know refer to any expensive, prestigious, albeit snobbish, American university as 'ivy league'.

Basic CS jobs are going overseas...pick a different major unless you plan on getting at least an MS in CS. And really, plan on getting a PhD.
