Since this was mentioned, as well as Nightmare Before Xmas...I want to also suggest Santa's Slay as a near-Xmas option. That movie is fucking hilarious.

drag me to hell was fucking horrible. my gf stopped watching midway through and said, "i can't take it anymore... this movie's fucking horrible. i'm going to bed. let me know how it ends".

i toughed it out. soooooo terrible, this movie.

if there's one single movie i can recommend to watch on halloween night, it would have to be 'paranormal activity'. either that or rob zombie's 'halloween'.

I actually threw up a little in my mouth watching Drag Me to Hell.

Hellraiser is definitely one of the creepiest movies ever. The Ring is a favorite horror movie of mine. The Saw series is a big halloween deal, always fun to watch all the previous ones then go watch the new one in theaters. Shutter is one of my favorite ghost movies.

Supernatural horror is always scarier than anything else. Zombies and vampires make for good action movies, but they aren't scary. My favorite vamp movies are Underworld, 30 Days of Night, and Daybreaker. 28 days/28 weeks is a good zombie duet, and also there is always I Am Legend.

that movie was frigging scary, man. my gf and i watched it in the afternoon with light and it was still scary. imagine watching it home alone at night without lights on.

I didn't really find it scary at all. It was not horrible, but just not my cup of tea.

you gotta put yourself in the mindset of "what if this happened" kind of thing for sake of enjoyment of the movie. once you do that, you'll be entertained

Yeah, I am usually good at that (Blair Witch scared the crap out of me when I saw it in the theatre) but I think I just did not buy the people in PA.

i'm gonna see part 2, but probably not at the theater. i want to be at home when i watch it for fuller effect. i doubt my gf would want to do it that way, though... she had nightmares all night because we watched the first one at home last time.

'the blair witch project' didn't scare me at all... it made me laugh... same with 'the ring'. i saw both of those in theaters and i think that might have been partly why.

Sure once all the viral marketing and such is out of your mind, its pretty tame, but at the time it was brilliant done. It's truly one of those "less is more" type of scarey movies. WAY better than a Saw and tripe like that.

Yeah, though I didn't mind the first Saw. At the time I saw Blair Witch, in the theatre, I knew nothing about it and it was the first time I had been scared by a film since I was a little kid. It was pretty amazing at the time.

That's part of what made it so awesome; the witch would have been a disappointment, I guarantee it.
