My daughter is just starting her web design business and is looking for a good web host to put her web site up and some of the clients she has. Not too expensive at this point, she's still in tech school and Dad is not a Gates. Around $120 a year. More if neccessary.

I did a Google search but there are so many conflicting reports about the web host's reliability I thought I'd come to experts. You'se guys have never let me down. **sniff**

I'm using GoDaddy for the domain register. And Dixiesys for the host.

BTW, Dixiesys has a "2 for 1" special this month. Buy any plan and get double the hosting free.

They're great with support tickets too.

Definately Dixiesys .... they also have a domain resellers program so she can resell domain names also. The support is great and the prices are great, especially during the aforementioned July sale.

Dang! Quick responces! This bodes well, methinks!

I have been studying the dixiesys site. Being somewhat thickheaded regardless of how much coffee I drink I need a bit further help if you will.

Scenario:

1.She wants to put her own web design site on

2. She wants to give clients their own site but a sub of hers- www. her_name.com/ their_name or http://their_name.her_name.com that they or her could access and change the files on.

3. She wants to give higher paying clients their OWN domain name as well- www.thier_name.com that also they or her could accesss and change the files on.

Which plan does she need?

Thanks!

dixiesys.com allows for her to set up as many user accounts as she wants

so they would have a domain like www.domain.com/~user'sname

however.. you might want to make a note of this: (taken from 3-95.com/dixiesys.com faq page)

Can I resell my space?
You're kidding right? For $3.95 a month you're gonna RESELL your space? No. This price means you run your web site off of it and that's that. Sorry.

I think your best bet is to put out a WANTED ad and have the web hosting companies come to you, offering you their current specials.

So I would place a webhosting request here, good luck!

Thanks to everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gonna tell her to put her site up and give user accounts- www.her_name.com/~their_name to the cheap guys, and set up the bigger bucks guys at dixiesys with their own accounts so they can have their own domain names....

or....

put herself on webhosting talk and get bids from web hosters

Hey, she has to make her own decisions, eh? Daddy's doin research but it's her ballgame.

She thinks I'm pretty smart, (the teen years are over), but I am just smart enough to know where I can find smart people!

Take a bow, guys!
