Good temps or bad?

Hey guys, this is my first build ever so to say I'm a noob at this would be an understatement. The case I'm using is literally just a milk crate, so obviously open air. But since I really don't know much I wanted to see if these were acceptable temps. Thanks! http://i.imgur.com/ZCoAbs8.png

EDIT:
So for kicks and giggles put a house fan up next to it, cleaned it first of course, and now it's running at a steady 48-52 at the "package". I assume that's more ideal for sure.

I haven't fiddled with an AMD processor since the late 1980's. Is this a multi-core processor?

What your "core 0" sensor shows is consistent with idle temperatures I would think.

Read the stickies here and do some web-searches on stress-testing. Some mild stress tests are built-in to a paid (or trial-limited) license to programs like AIDA-64. Stronger tests with good (HWMonitor) monitoring can be had with latest version of OCCT, which is free but expires every year requiring an upgrade version -- likely also for free. It has a nice "tin-cup" message box at program start-up. [I'll remember that . . . maybe when I'm feeling flush . . ]

If you're curious about temperatures with your new project, you need to find what they are when the processor is running 100% full bore. To my memory of the last several years, there was a time when AMD cores had a lower TDP and a cooler operating range. But a lot has changed since then, and I don't know.

It's a quad core, I would hope the core 0 temp was the right one but I'm very highly doubting that now. With my house fan damn near on the heatsink the core 0 is reading 6-11 degrees at most. The package idles at around 45-48 degrees. But under any gaming load whatsoever it will go as high as 85. I assume this number is either incorrect or something is severely wrong because at the bios I have 70 set to max. hardware,
amd athlon multicore 760k
sapphire radeon 2gb video card
and an msi a78m e35 motherboard

Whats really strange is that it has no problem playing spintires or fallout new vegas at max settings but will lag and stutter on minecraft, dropping to as low as 24 fps. But running a steady 65+ fps on spintires. It's a brand new setup so maybe I'm missing some drivers or something. I really have no clue. I'm just paranoid with this. The CPU is under a 2 year warranty so I won't be completely screwed if it melts itself. But it's concerning to say the least. What I mainly don't understand is that some programs can access the temps but others can't. So I'm thinking these numbers might just be bogus.

EDIT: Ended up getting AMD overdrive, the third party programs were way out of whack. My thermal margin never dropped below 35 through Overdrive. So thank god for that. I can get back to gaming without worrying now

I wouldn't be so sure that AMD's software is any better. The core voltage is around 1.4-1.5V and that's pretty high and would explain the high temperatures. Also be aware that this is a 100W CPU with an anemic heatsink.

You could try tweaking the core voltage to be as low as possible without compromising stability. This will help reduce the maximum temperature.

Is there some particular reason you're not using a computer case? An open case might at first seem to be the coolest possible configuration, but it seldom is. The problem is that you have poor airflow over components. Using a house fan on such a system sounds about right.

Building in a PC case will allow you to get proper airflow, typically front-to-rear, with the CPU heat sink and fan assembly near a rear vent or exhaust fan.

Through the overdrive it's reading a steady .95 v at idle and I set the max to 1.356. From what I've been reading these CPU's put out extremely inaccurate readings to most 3rd party software, Overdrive is the only one that has matched the bios so far.

Basically to be completely honest I just wanted something out of the ordinary, the house fan seems to be doing a good job and now at idle it only reads 34c at idle for the CPU. And under load not much over 55. I also turned down the max voltage to 1.356 and everything seems to be fine with that. I finally got a motherboard to fit my bios resolution as well, and confirmed my max temp allowed is 70c. So over all I think things are running well!

Well,, sometimes it helps to be "paranoid." It compels you to learn new things . .
