Off of what? A standard phone charger in an outlet?
Yeah I had a ton of USB -> outlet adapters that I've accumulated over the years so I just use one. I bring 2 of them on my trips usually, one for my phone, and one for whatever else I need to charge via USB.

Didn’t know that would provide enough power. Good to know. All the guides and forum threads about it indicated it had specific power requirements like needing 3A etc.

Yeah, you only need the one packed with the switch to use the dock. I rarely dock mine so I mostly use any of my chargers that I have laying around.

It might charge slower or something I'm not sure, but I'm never charging it in a hurry or anything so that isn't a priority for me. I think I've used my iPhone charger adapter every time when charging it but I'm not sure what that one is rated at.

I've been playing Steamworld Dig 2 for the past couple days and it's super fun. The game play isn't anything revolutionary as the whole platform mining/digging thing has been done but the art style is well done and it's just nice to sit back and play portable something something while relaxing at home after work.

Got that free some months ago for PS4. Not bad. Been playing Stardew Valley and OMG what a time sink lol. Not far off from Animal Crossing which I love (not the microtransaction mobile version).

My fiancée is in love with Stardew Valley. She played it so much on the Switch. I'm lucky I've been able to actually pry her away from it since I've been wanting to play some Switch so I had to buy her Bravely Default on 3DS so she can play that and I get some Switch time.

I don't remember Steamworld Dig 2 being a PS+ game, I got the first one that way and enjoyed it, haven't figured out which platform I'm going to get the second one on.

It's one of the those games that that's better on the Switch just because you can play it anywhere and it's not a super intense game, not relying on fine controls. Those are the types of games I'll buy on Switch over other systems. If it's a game that benefits from more horsepower I'll buy it on other systems. This game does not. Plus it's on sale right now on the Switch.

So what is everyone hoping to hear at Nintendo Direct? I'm hoping to see a 2018 release date for Shin Megami Tensei V. If I get that I'm probably buying a Switch and Super Mario Odyssey the next day.

Has anyone found a good dock for the Switch that isn't $90? I see some third party units on Amazon, but they aren't rated too well.

That seems what you're going to find right now. I have to transport my switch dock when I go to someone else's house. I'm looking for a good rated 3rd party one that's small and I can keep in my switch travel case.

I'm surprised to hear that the Dark Souls Remaster is coming to the Switch. It looks like Nintendo finally realized that adults use their consoles too.

It's not really surprising if you've been paying attention for the past year. Doom, LA Noire, Bayonetta, etc.

Best Buy sells an Insignia branded one for $40. It doesn't have the LCD "cover" the official one has, so it won't scratch your screen, also makes it much more portable. It works fine. I'm not sure what people could possibly complain about though. Reviews seem good.

I like that better than the one that comes with the Switch.

EDIT:

LOL @ the first review on BB website...

For 39.99$, you not only get the dock, but you -also- get a power cable and an HDMI cable. The dock itself is smaller than the official Nintendo Switch dock due to no big walls on either side of the USB-C port. From trying it out, I have no complaints. It's a little heavier than the official dock, but not by much. It's far more compact and mobile, and is a steal for that price. Not to mention that it comes with two cables that are usually 20-30$ per cable.

I see some things never change about typical BB customers.

To be fair, most people who don't know anything about electronics think your average HDMI cable costs upwards of $50 for the "good gold plated ones". Back in the mid 2000s, I had a guy tell me I couldn't get a 100' CAT5 cable without spending $500...

Yeah retailers gouge the crap out of them. I can get hdmi premium certified cables for under $15 for 6’. Same cable with different branding is about $60 at some retailers.

Bought 5 10' Rosewill HDMI cables off Newegg when they were on sale a few years back for $3 a piece. I still have two unopened.

Yeah but I recently upgraded all my cables to premium certified cables that can pass the full 18Gbps for HDMI 2.0a.

No idea what that is. My HDMI cables work perfectly fine for my computer monitor and both my TVs for 1080. Don't need no fancy premium cables when the other ones work just as good for what I have.

When you try passing 4k 10bit Color HDR at 60hz you may. That’s why I had to buy new cables. Monoprice has premium certified cables which are tested to meet the full specs. This is especially important for runs 10+ feet.

Don't know what the difference is, but when I got rid of my old 1080i RPTV and switched to my 1080P LCD, the HDMI cable I was using previously didn't work with it. Swapped in one of the others I had, and it worked fine.
