LOL Nintendo left out the price increase to $70 for Tears of the Kingdom in their Direct.
That game is just crying for the HDR treatment. Oh well. I bet they have plans to sell the HDR Remastered version when their next console arrives.LOL Nintendo left out the price increase to $70 for Tears of the Kingdom in their Direct.

Appears you could have preordered at $60.
If you belong to Switch Online (and don't mind digital) you can buy a $100 voucher for two games, and ToTK is one of the eligible games. If you also belong to Costco or Sam's Club you might be able to get $100 in eShop cards at a discount.
With how light today's Direct was on interesting new games gotta wonder if that next gen system is coming sooner rather than later. Because Switch's cupboard looks bare as hell for 2023 outside of Tears.
Can always overlock your switch to get better frame rates, of course this is dependent on having an unpatched V1 or a modded switchIf it's going to run terribly like BOTW did on Wii U no thanks, I'll wait for the next gen system.
I'm very happy to have Metroid Prime Remaster, but we probably won't see Metroid Prime 4 until late 2024 at the earliest given how Nintendo likes to spread things out. I wouldn't be surprised if it's 2025 or later and another split-system release.
Need them sooner or later, I already burned through the first. I want to play through again on hard mode, will give it a short break before doing so.Just ordered the physical release, should arrive in about a month though, but I can wait.
So far its received very good reviews and selling like hot cakes, hopefully we get 2 and 3 remastered as well before the 4th.

I don't think I've touched the original since about 2004, but the remaster looked and sounded and felt just like I remembered. I can't believe the game is 20 years old. It doesn't feel nearly that old. The combat is relatively simple, but that's really the only thing I can knock it for. I expected it to feel more clunky but it doesn't. The default control scheme is really good. Only potential drawback is visor and weapon swapping. Since the right stick is now aim it's no longer available for weapon swap. Both use the d-pad, with weapons also requiring a face button modifier. You can swap whether visors or weapons use the d-pad unmodified, so at least there's that. I also wish you could swap left/right stick controls in the map - it uses left stick to rotate view angle and right stick to pan, opposite the modern convention, but doesn't take long to adapt to.
It's weird how there was a shortage of the physical release. It was nowhere to be found around here when it was released (the 22nd). I found Best Buy had it on sale on Monday for store pickup tomorrow. However I got a message last night that it was there so I snagged it.
I am going to finish up Kena before I start it though. I'm excited to play it as it's been since that game launched on GC that I last played it.
If you had purchased the physical one and it blows, you could probably sell it for $50, and only be out $20I never, ever pre-order games after seeing too many people get burned on hype garbage but I just had to pull the trigger on Tears of the Kingdom. BotW was just too damn good.
I wasn't thrilled about the increased price point so I opted instead to buy the two vouchers for $100. That brings the price down to $50.
Better yet, Costco was (is?) selling $50 Nintendo gift cards online for $45. I grabbed two for $90, loaded them to my account and used the funds to buy the vouchers. I got the TotK pre-order for $45 and have another game coming in the future for $45. Even if the Zelda sequel blows the vouchers and gift cards means I won't be out too much lost cash so the risk was worth it in my eyes.
They announced this last year. Considering the title (Tears of the Kingdom), it was eerie timing; they announced the title and release date days after Queen Elizabeth II passed away.sequel to breath of the wild has a different name. arriving in may, allegedly.

The super sale they have going on is garbage. its 3 games and I dont need or want any of them (including 4 different versions of Luigis Mansion).
Second part of sale starts in a couple weeks and has Mario Kart and DLC.
I am liking the Switch but not loving it. I appreciate one good console as opposed to a pair of crappy devices. I like that the mobile console IS the home console, that should help with game development and the game library.
Those little flash cartridges are sturdier and faster than optical media.
But the games right now are just meh, and in fact most of the appeal right now is they remade a lot of popular stuff just so people can play it on the newest console. But they charge full price and thats annoying. I paid full price for Breath Of the Wild and I really don't wanna repurchase it. I did NOT like repurchasing Mario Kart 8 and even worse, because they fowled up their Nintendo eAccount and My Nintendo account crossover, my progress did not carry over. That was a lot of work.
I am so glad they gave up on motion controls. That was more annoying than anything.
My younger son is enjoying it, I told him he can play it, but after I'm done with Bloodstained I'm going to want it back. I watched him play it for a bit and does look fun!Metroid Prime Remastered is fantastic. The game was so ahead of it's time. I can't believe the game is 20 years old. I am not anxiously awaiting MP4.
My only gripe really is all the back tracking, and the control of the map doesn't help with that. It just seems like there could be more links to the main overworld which would have helped with some of the backtracking, but there isn't.
Playing this now and having issues with controlling the map screen, I actually remember having those same issues when I played it at launch on Gamecube back in the day.
