so does yours.

I'm not the one being a condescending asshole saying "deal with it" and saying intelligent adult things like "Fuck the users." and repeatedly telling people "Fuck you." in this thread.

You've been shot down a dozen times, won't (intelligently) listen to any of the points anyone is making...

You're a complete fool.

bullshit. If I walked into your industry and took whatever I want and told you to "deal with the changing technology" How would you feel?

If you want a bunch of excel spreadsheets and data sets, go ahead.

You were jumping down people's throats when they were telling you what they wanted and how they wanted their media delivered. Heaven forbid the paying customers have an opinion. We should all just sit here and be forced to have the movie houses and distributors tell us how we will take our medicine.

You're the one that kept going back to piracy and to stealing things. You kept on insisting that the software in the OP was being used for that and solely that (or at least for the majority of it) and yet people in here kept telling you over and over that wasn't their use for it. Yet you ignored those or at best belittled their points and disregarded them.

Your industry is changing and has changed IMMENSELY in the past 10 years and in the next 10 years it will change completely again.

If you can't deal with that, then you are in deep trouble.

Its funny how your posts have become these short, single line outburst now... Seems like you're thinking things through clearly and not just knee-jerk reacting ()

I wouldnt but I have a hard time not rationalizing ripping content that I own so that I dont get forced to sit through 10 REQUIRED trailers. I might be less likely to rip disks that I own if the movie companies would stop doing stupid shit like that.

JSt0rm, answer this simply please...

Do you think it is OK for me to rip a DVD/BD that I purchased to my computer's HDD for viewing?

I am not speaking of seeding on torrent or burning a copy for a friend or doing anything else with it EXCEPT storing it on my computer's HDD.

Noted. Sorry, missed those posts.

He (as usual) doesn't answer the question asked directly but rather gives an opinion on a related topic. I understand that by saying he has an issue with people circumventing DRM, he is, in a roundabout manner, answering your question.

I wonder how he suggests getting a BR quality copy of a movie for home use then WITHOUT the need for a physical disk (which at this point, and for the last 5+ years if not more) is woefully outdated.

Well, the answer seems to be that you don't need such a copy. You should be happy with the quality level of streaming video to take care of your watching needs.

I don't really agree with that point of view, but that has been the most consistent answer to that question.

Yeah, see I get that that is the (current but debatable) legal answer. But that's the whole point isn't it? We (his customers) are saying "that solution sucks!!" and he's saying "Fuck you"

Great industry... they certainly don't have their heads up their asses.

Sure buddy. I dont think you understand how locked down things are now. I can only think of 1 film in the last 2 years that was leaked from source. In the pipeline there are very few places that have access to final print and final audio. Those people are watched like a hawk.

Yet leaks are still the main source for serious pirates, the criminal ones profiting from it. Then there is the different release dates around the globe.

P.S. I am in Canada. Thyne DMCA has no jurisdiction.

you have spent around $20 a week on content since you were 15 if your numbers are correct. I think its a little weird you just know how much you have spent but there you go.

I spent 20k by the time I was 25 (17-25) on music alone. D: It was worth it though

Stuff is just more expensive up here in Igloo Nation.

Old 2007 pix thatis about 1200 dvds and a few hundred CDs. HDDVDs were on different shelf. My ht is still in boxes since I moved

...and rent it...and loan it...and display it for free to friends, family, and coworkers...and fair-use the fu*k out of it. Missing quite a bit there, guy.

Dunno about renting it. Thats a different issue. But all of the other stuff go for it.

You cant. I think streams for me (200mb down 20mb up) are bluray quality level though.

You, a person in the industry, believe that that stream is the same quality as whats on the BR disc? You don't think their compressing it just a wee bit?

The DMCA was the US implementation of an international treaty. Canada's version is the Copyright Modernization Act.
