This tech disturbs me more than anything that's been put out yet. It'll cause a huge rift in privacy vs innovation as laws will have to be created just to deal with when and how you can record someone.
Small hidden cameras are already out there you know...
Plus you have to use your hands or speak out the command, and you've got this thing sitting there above your eye that people can see. I fail to see how this is as bad as the small hidden cameras you can already buy.
This looks great in theory but I'll probably wait until Version 10 or so before buying in.

Take away the nice music and play on emotion, and all I see is a distracting piece of technology obscuring moments I would rather savor in the moment.
Smartphones, cameras, and other handheld gadgets are as far as I want to go. I don't want augmented reality or a HUD for daily life.
Instead of holding that camera/phone and viewing those moments you'd rather savor through a view finder, with Glass you can take photos hands free and enjoy those moments.
Obviously it's not for everyone, so those who don't want one can simply not buy one.
Unless they sell me just a unit I can attach to my own glasses I'll never be able to use them anyway. If you're not a contact lens person you're screwed.
Anyone think this would be perfect to have integrated with Google Glass?
I would rather talk to myself and look crazy rather than making hilariously bad exaggerated gestures.
Regardless of the crazy gesture system they have going on there, I think Google could incorporate something of that sort into glass. It could possibly be a wrist only thing that uses those muscles for extremely simple gestures or to at least wake the device so you can talk to it.
This is all my own speculation of course, but I could even see them buying that company just for their portfolio even if it's never used. That is something that could be beneficial regardless if it's involved with Glass or not.
I believe Google has filed some ring-control patents for Glass.Regardless of the crazy gesture system they have going on there, I think Google could incorporate something of that sort into glass. Right. There is, but I could still see this as being an extremely useful piece. There is a button and a touch pad on the glass to handle all that.
Yeah. I've seen that. I'm assuming it'll be something similar as the video I shared, but at this point in time, we really don't know what they will do with it. I'm sure they've thought of what that company has done, but we all know how giant corporations love to buy smaller start ups, this would be a good acquisition in my opinion just because of the work they have done thus far.
Google Glasses will impact societal behavior from the moment they arrive. As soon as you see them, you're aware that you might be filmed. People don't like being filmed.
Yes, every smartphone can record you and take pictures. But you know when this is happening. It isn't a constant feeling that everyone around you is filming you from every angle. You see them when they do it.

I was talking to my wife about this a week ago when she saw someone with Google glasses and he was just looking right back at her. We probably get recorded left and right and but if people want to record you right in your face, at least you can tell and start turning away or tell him to quit it. But with these glasses, just a guy looking at you and who knows if he's recording or what. It kind of annoys me.
Pretty sure it said in the Verge article that a light turns on so you can see if the device is recording or not. Smartphones do not light up, and can easily be used to stealth record just about anything and the person could just look like they're looking at their phone.
