The google nexus 4 mobile phone seems to be out of stock for about 4 weeks now. Any one have an idea as to when the next shipment will be available? I read somewhere that T Mobile will be stocking its stores with the nexus, but whats the point of getting the nexus if it with the contract? A contractless phone costs about 340 dollars ....

If google sticks with LG they are stupid, they can't make enough phones fast enough for the demand. They need to use a different company that knows WTF they are doing for the next nexus phone.

I wanted a nexus 4 so bad, I was just waiting to give google my money. I got tired of waiting and gave up and bought a galaxy s2 skyrocket off craigslist

But, discontinue why??? the model is pretty successful and the demand is so much higher...

Don't think discontinue is the right word. But if you believe the article (not sure I do), LG just is focusing on it's own hardware and making the Nexus 4 isn't a priority.

I just think LG just sucks.

Whatever the reason, the BGR article suggests LG may be making more Nexus devices, god I hope that isn't true either. LG should never ever be allowed to make Nexus hardware again, ever.

And people complained about Samsung getting two Nexus phones in a row, at least they were able to keep the Galaxy Nexus in production and didn't have to effectively discontinue it to keep up with demand for their other models.

I don't think this is exclusively LG's fault. Google just did not order enough for the barrage of orders they ended up getting. Half of it because they were incompetent, and half was really just because they didn't really want to sell millions of this device at that price point. It was meant to be a teaser of some sort.

The things is, if it's true that the next Nexus phone will come out soon (regardless of who will manufacture it), I seriously doubt it will be priced as low as the Nexus 4. Just watch it, they'll upgrade the hardware to the newest and won't hold back on the features (LTE, etc), and put it up there around $450+ price level.

Full disclosure: I didn't get my Nexus 4 either. I had one in my cart multiple times, but ended up letting it go because I thought I didn't really need one at the time, and will wait a month or two until I'm ready.

and as a manager for your product, Google's like "cool don't feel like making anymore? do as you wish, please continue to manufacture our product based on how many units you feel like making a day."

Please cue the apologists for Google doing a great job with inventory again. I'd like to hear their excuses this time.

Well my Nexus 4 just got more valuable.

Maybe it's a good time to cash in for a high priced phone...

Discontinued after less than 2 months? Pretty shocking development if true.

I'd imagine that "MotoGoogle" is getting close to finishing up a new Nexus phone as we speak... and this one will have LTE that you can actually USE.

That's the phone I would want if I had something like a Galaxy Nexus already.

I'm not apologizing for Google either. This product has their name on it, it's a Nexus product. Google is definitely quite responsible for this situation too.

I don't see how this could be true. Until we see something official, I'll take this with a grain of salt.

As the guy who posted the links above, I'd like to echo this reply. Although I found links, that doesn't mean that the rumors are correct and it seems really strange for them to do this now when it's unlikely that a "Nexus 4.1" will be released until Key Lime Pie is unveiled in (probably) May/June. As Zerocool said, I'm inclined to disbelieve this rumor until there's a rational explanation or more proof.

And (most important to me) a decent battery.

Discontinuing a high demand Nexus flagship/reference device two months in just makes no sense. I'll be shocked if it's true.

Jesus LG, fix your fucking supply problems and start selling these devices by the truckload.

Yes, Google are ceasing production on the incredibly popular Nexus 4 which has been pretty much unavailable to most since launch, to make a new Nexus 5. Sounds plausible.

wow talk about a horrible return on investment? Probably 1 year of R&D, ME, and QE work....to push less than 400,000 units....

To a degree I also feel bad for Nexus 4 owners; I can't imagine how much support they'll get if this is true!

and I really wanted one too! I suppose I'll wait till the end of the month, and then at that point I'll go look for a used S2 or Galaxy Nexus or SOMETHING...

I'd like to take it with a grain of salt, but we'll see...
