Google can't afford to alienate OEM's, Moto is more of a backup plan if the OEM's migrate to other OS's.
And the previous poster is right, Moto deal was finalized after LG got the contract. The new one has already been awarded, we just don't know who at this point. The few confusing lines in the press from few days ago kinda points to LG getting the Nexus contract again. IMO, OEM's are far less interested in the Nexus contract than they were a year or $200 ago.
Google definitely screwed up the launch again and the checkout fiasco was terrible but I can't blame them for inventory. Cut your employee's pay by 50% and watch what happens to productivity...
