LOL, so many people jumped on my ass for making this thread.

We don't know the outcome yet but I find it odd that many of you are blaming LG for this ??
It doesn't even make any sense to blame LG for this.
You honestly don't think LG can produce as many of the Nexus 4 as Google order them to ??

Because they sell a near identical flagship phone for so much more? Yeah, I can't imagine why they wouldn't want to sell a cheaper version of their premium smartphone that's in every other commercial I see

I don't think the real problem is the price or even the demand. Rumor is LG has only made 400,000 unit so far. That's incredibly pathetic. And it's not like LG currently has any other hot selling phones right now. Is their manufacturing truly this bad? Samsung and Apple could probably make that many phones before lunch.

But of course Google is heavily at fault for picking LG. If a mere 400,000 phones in 2 months is too much for LG, Google probably should have been able to determine that and not allowed LG to make the phone in the first place. Leave for a bigger boy next time. LG needs to stick to refrigerators and blenders I guess.

hmmm... This does make sense if you think about it. Why have LG make their phones when they bought Motorola?

LG was likely already selected before the deal with Motorola was finished.
And Google mentioned they wouldn't give Motorola preferential treatment, so probably didn't want to immediately have Motorola making the next Nexus for the sake of appearances as well.

Google can't afford to alienate OEM's, Moto is more of a backup plan if the OEM's migrate to other OS's.

And the previous poster is right, Moto deal was finalized after LG got the contract. The new one has already been awarded, we just don't know who at this point. The few confusing lines in the press from few days ago kinda points to LG getting the Nexus contract again. IMO, OEM's are far less interested in the Nexus contract than they were a year or $200 ago.

Google definitely screwed up the launch again and the checkout fiasco was terrible but I can't blame them for inventory. Cut your employee's pay by 50% and watch what happens to productivity...

The only OEM that really matters is Samsung anyway. As long as they are happy getting an OS for free, there's not much to be worried about.

I'm at the point where I just don't want to wait any longer and just get an S3. At least it won't overheat.

But it looks like Samsung is testing the waters with a new free OS they are backing called Tizen. Seems like Samsung would like to loosen it's dependency on Google if they can.

Samsung also had Bada, which is already more popular than Windows phones.
