Obamacare Lite failed 47-51?!
damn, that's cutting it close.

it removed the Individual mandate that everyone MUST have health insurance or pay a penalty.
so w/o that mandate, the deficit would soar!

WTF are the Repubs thinking?
remove taxes and just add to the debt??? a debt that their grandchildren will have to pay?
Havent you heard? Tax breaks pays for themselves... its all trickle down from there (aka a race to the bottom).

I had no clue that they could only do one reconciliation vote per year. Wow, changes my outlook on the whole process. Mitch said he was done so does that mean he has no interest in trying anything? Of course it does. He's a real bastard and should have been voted out years ago. Stupid damn KY voters.

https://www.cbpp.org/research/federal-budget/introduction-to-budget-reconciliation

How Many Reconciliation Bills May Congress Consider Each Year?
Under Senate interpretations of the Congressional Budget Act, the Senate can consider the three basic subjects of reconciliation — spending, revenues, and debt limit — in a single bill or multiple bills, but it can consider each of these three in only one bill per year (unless Congress passes a second budget resolution). Consequently, in the Senate there can be a maximum of three reconciliation bills in a year, one for each of the basic subjects of reconciliation.

This rule is most significant if the first reconciliation bill that the Senate takes up affects both spending and revenues. Even if that bill is overwhelmingly devoted to only one of those subjects, no subsequent reconciliation bill can affect either revenues or spending because the first bill already addressed them.

So it sounds like they can still do a reconciliation bill on taxes and another on the debt ceiling to prevent a government shutdown.

Raising the debt ceiling will prevent a default, not a shutdown. I think we'll see a shutdown this fall when either congress fails to fund the government due to GOP infighting or Trump vetoes it when he doesn't get his wish list.

Prepare for more smooth governing brought to you buy the Trump Org and the GOP.

All I know is that millions of working people won't be getting emails from HR telling them that their jobs no longer include health insurance as a benefit. Most big companies wouldn't go this far but you can bet scaled back, higher cost healthcare benefits would be all that was offered & you can be sure a lot if companies would just dump their workers onto the ACA exchanges.

What on earth were they thinking? How could this be viewed as cheaper, better care for Americans?

I believe that Trump is melting down. Notice how Melania rarely appears with him and when she does there is very little public display of affection between them like a normal happy couple might display. His openly brash and crude behavior has offended people around the world and his public demeanor is just disgusting and his staff is a reflection of him. When 2020 rolls around I will vote for whomever is running against him.

I'm sorry but I miss President Obama

Ditto! Even W is a Rhodes scholar compared to Trump and I'm under no illusions when I say that this roller coaster hasn't even crested yet on its way to the big plunge at the bottom. His eyeballing of the French first lady made me want to puke and his self righteous public behavior is beyond despicable. He is the reason that I had to change parties the other day and because I feel that neither D, I nor R represent me I switched to NPA.

And you're defending him... why?

I am not defending him. I only restated what he said.

He did not say to beat the shit out of them, just toss them into the car. Feel free to pull your panties up into your crack if you want.

Why does Trump even have an opinion on the proper procedure for physically transferring a crime suspect to a police vehicle? If you're going to say he has no agenda to encourage violence, then surely there is an alternative reason why he would even address this topic.

Read up on MS 13 brutality .... It is eye opening.

Please. You know he meant he DGAF what the LEO's do. You just don't want to publicly agree, for whatever partisan motivation drives you yet again.

What he did was tell cops they don't have to follow protocol in the handling of prisoners. The protocol that was designed to prevent injury. Failing to follow protocol caused the death of Freddie Grey. Those infamous "rough rides". If any of those cops behind Trump applauding when he said that have a complaint against them, there will be big payouts.

Pretty much. Doesn't take much to realize intent.

Trump is now openly threatening CSR payments. Insurance companies have been raising premiums specifically because they aren't sure he will continue them. There has been talk in Congress of passing a bipartisan bill specifically to fund the CSR payments as letting him end them will toss the individual markets into a nosedive, comments like these make them defying him likelier.

Nearly every attempt of his to muscle congress as a whole or individual congress people has backfired spectacularly. Seems we're in for more.

It's not a solution... but a continuation to tread water is certainly better than sinking the ship.

Thats the fucking metaphor for the last election, and why there were so many Republicans that actually voted for Hillary last election. Sadly way too many Democrats voted for Trump last election as well, proving that party alone isnt necessarily a good prediction of morality or personal character.

I didn't say it was a solution. We're so far from solutions that not allowing what amounts to arson is about the best we can hope for now.

What is wrong with this man? Doesn't he understand he is president? Why is he threatening people on twitter?
