Ok, so I recently bought some new computer parts, and came home today expecting to finda package. I ordered from 3 different vendors, and the package that arrived today was my monitor. I ordered a Dell monitor, a 1905FP to be exact. So, I got home, saw the package with Dell written all over, and quickly took it inside to open it.
Before I opened it I turned the TV on, and got distracted. So, I was opening the package while watching TV, and I take out the stand, which looked much different than the picture. I was confused, but didn't think anything of it. Then I removed some stryo-foam and got to the monitor. Only thing is its about 1.5x as big as I thought it would be. I look on the back of the monitor and its a 2405FPW. I look at the box and see in small print that the outside of the box says 2405FPW. Oh sh!t.
I quickly run to my computer to check and make sure my order didn't get messed up. Nope, the site has me billed $430 dollars for a Dell 1905FP. On their front page along with other items is the 2405FPW, touting a nice price tag of $998. Now I know I need to return the monitor, but the thing is I wasn't paying attention when I opened it. I opened cord bags and everything. They definately can't resell it as new. I feel bad now, I should have paid more attention.
Cliffs:
1. Order a Dell 1905FP from a third party vendor.
2. Recieve and excitedly open Dell package.
3. Find monitor is way too big, and was given a 2405FPW.
4. Site thinks it sent me a 1905FP.
5. Since I didn't pay attention to the model number on the outside I already ripped into the packaging.
6. When I return it they won't be able to sell it as new.
7. I feel bad now.
EDIT: NOT from Dell, from a third party vendor. Just want to make that clear to people.
UPDATE: Tried calling today, but had to leave a message. Guess I get the monitor for the weekend. Will try calling again on Monday.
Final Update: He, I forgot about this thread. Anyways, when I finally got a hold of them, they just wanted me to return it. I had used it that weekend (I mean, it was already opened and all), and I really liked it. It also had no dead pixels, which I thought was pretty good for a display that size. Well, after a little negotiating (it was already opened, and I told them they would have to compensate me for shipping the monitor back and pay shipping on the right monitor), I got them to take around $300 off the price and I decided to pay the rest and keep the monitor. So, happy ending after all.
