I gave up usually telling a vendor when they shipped too much, but not when they ship too little.

It's a freaking hassle when there is a mistake, usually they want all this documentation and BS as if you are trying to scam them EVEN when they sent me too many things, in this case they treat you like an idiot usually and think you are confused.

So I gave up when I win, if they contact me I will help with it...

Outside of my groceries, I do about 90% of my shopping online.

You probably benefitted from the action of a disgruntled employee.

I say stick with it.

i would -as much as it would kill me- probally do the right thing and inform them of their mistake. My integrity is not worth so little as an extra 5 inches on my monitor (which will be outdated within 5 years). The company however had better do their best to rectify the mistake. I -might- be inclined to drop it off somewhere, but more likely they had better send a truck to stop by my house with a prepaid label and pick it up themselves.

cheers to honesty op.

Fumbles, whether in football, or in vendor shipping from a company belong to the team that recovers the football.
Your monitor is like a football in that respect. In a warranty situation they will honor the higher costing monitor product.

Keep it! WWGD. What would grandma do? Do you think grandma would have known the difference had you bought and sent the monitor to her?

Sorry, I have morals, and the guilt would get to me. A couple bucks is one thing, but $500 dollars is a whole different ball park.

there's no question you WONT keep the monitor - from your first post it was clear that you "feel bad for THEM" because "you opened the package".....geee..i almost feel bad for you because you feel guilt for NOTHING.

If you were a total computer noob understanding NOTHING from computers...well you could've ordered something..then received it and not even KNOW that this monitor is not actually the one you needed. So how on earth could anything be your "fault" ??????

(Example: I could order my wife a 1300XT graphics card and [by accident] she receives a X1800XT...i wouldnt think that SHE would even know what the difference is. ANd i could clearly see a lot of people MAYBE not even knwoing what exact model number etc. their comps/monitors are.

Anyway..if you're so honest to return this (i wouldnt, i would just wait and wait and wait and keep the monitor as long as i dont get a notice..HAHAHA...and then play 'dumb')...anywya if you you're so honest then PLEASE, PELASE do me the favor and do NOT even pay out of YOUR pocket for the shipping cost back to wherever you bought it from

I got sent the wrong car part once,
did not notice it,installed it in the car,{An Aluminum radiator}
they called me two days after and said Uh we think we sent you the wrong part,
and are sorry,but,we need to correct our inventory.

Please go look at the box,and read us the part number on the box,
I still had the box,and the box had the incorrect number,but,the part was the
correct,heavy duty one,they refunded me the difference in price to the chepaer one.

Cliffs I ordered an expensive aluminum radiator
I got the part installed it in the car,it was the one I ordered.

Summit racing called 2 days later,and said we sent you the wrong part;
the box had the cheaper part number on it.

I got the expensive radiator in the wrong box,and Summit refunded the price difference,
and the shipping charge.

I was extra happy.They were happy,only wanted to keep the inventory straight.

Trust me, I'm not going to pay a dime on shipping this back to them and I expect free shipping on the right monitor. I see no reason to penalize the company as many of you see fit. Why should the comapny lose $500 because a worker was lazy and sent the wrong package out? Companies can't control their employees all the time, no matter how well they hire. Humans make errors, this is inevitable. Its amazing how people would love to rip off a company any chance they get, but would probably go nuts if they were the business owner and this happened.

depends on what your time is worth. You and whatever company are in business...you want a simple delivery.

If you have to jump through hoops, I'd expect to be compensated.

If they expect you to pay a dime for shipping it back and getting the right monitor, you keep it. The law is on your side, you're not obligated to return something that was sent to you in error.
Agreed

i originally suggested keeping it cuz i thought dell screwed up...and well...i don't feel bad stealing from dell. but since its a small company, id send it back, but at the company's cost.

I am one immoral bastard...cause I would probably keep it. This is Dell we are talking about here..not a mom and pop store that depends on every single order to get through the month. They screwed up, and you win.

I didn't order it from Dell, I ordered it from a small online company. While I wouldn't mind stealing from Dell, I'm most definately not going to rip off a small business that never did anything to me.

Oh, in that case, return it.
