nice.

yup egg is price raping for a while.

the 6750 is ok, but limited with that 8x multi. Set your FSB to 450, bump volts up and see what it can do!

I ordered parts for an entire new SFF build so I dont expect them all to arrive before Friday. I didnt pay extra for faster shipping. I went the cheaper route and grabbed free shipping where I could. It'll be awhile before I get the system put together. Hopefully it'll be this weekend's project for me. Not that that bothers me much.

This isn't the first time NewEgg has jacked prices up. There have been some real high prices on their site for other products.

You should contact them over this, that is not right!

Well I thought Intel set the price for $186 and that it was suppose to sell for that amount when it came out?

I called the about it yesterday, twice! The first person tried playing it off about something having to do with warranty having an affect on the price... I chuckled and said as nicely as I could, "I'll call back and get another opinion, no offense." The second person I spoke with said that it's possible that they didn't have the true market value of the item correct when they first listed the item. I asked if it was common for them to raise the price of an item that is selling well and she assured me with a "No, we would never do that!" 1 hour later, the price went up to $235, from $225.

I tried calling them out on price gouging over the phone, but they both just kinda didn't know how to respond. The second response was "acceptable" but I think we all know they're really in it for the money and just trying to play the Supply and Demand game... I guess we'll just have to wait for a price drop...

Very true. Last year they did it with the new Intel chips and then did it with the new mobos that used the new chips. And ontop of all that they also price gouged when the G80 video cards first came out. But as long as people still buy from them and additionally give them glowing reviews they really have no reason to stop. Luckily for the consumer there are other places to buy from. Basically its buyer beware.

You DO realize the Cus. support reps aren't seeing any of the money from the price gouging, right? They're probably getting paid little more then minimum wage while taking all the backlash for things higher ups in the company are responsible for.

i'm not sure why the price fluctuations are any surprise... it may not be good for us, but its basic supply and demand at its core and i'm not going to just up and never buy from them again over it. you dont HAVE to buy @ the price they're @ selling at. the price continued to escalate and then eventually it was sold out for a bit. there are several e-tailers i know of that have supply based pricing all the time...

I think it's a matter of degree. NewEgg (and MonarchComputers.com until it went belly up) is particularly adapt and prompt among others. There must be employees who are watching the number of orders, or an application that automatically adjusts prices by scripting.

Above said, these CPUs are still a tremendous value of computing power even at the gouged prices. And like Skott says, we have other e-tailers who compete with the Egg so it's ultimately the buyer's choice.

Yea, I'm not denying the simple laws of Supply and Demand as I mentioned above... My first post I guess I was just a little upset at the extent of their use of "Supply and Demand" as reasoning. I have a business minor (no that doesn't make me an expert, but I do have a little taught knowledge and stuff... yeah!) and though Supply and Demand seems to be a valid reason, it just seems a little... extreme I suppose, especially when other sites are drastically underselling.

Anyhoo, I will be building a rig using this CPU shortly, and will be taking advantage of what lopri pointed out: The wonderful idea of buyers choice!

Here's a pic of the actual processor. Sorry, it's a little blurry.

I just got my 6750 and looking thru the window on the box like in that pic mine has scuffs on it. Is that bad?

should I send it back?

I don't think you need to. That looks kinda normal. It won't ever be perfectly smooth.
