So my GTS 250 arrived today. I got the Superclocked EVGA version from newegg. There are probably better choices if you're looking for the best gaming performance for your dollar.
The main reason I bought it was because of the low power consumption. If I moved up to a GTX260 I would have needed a new power supply. With the GTS 250 I was able to keep my Earthwatts 500 that came in my Sonata II case without stressing it. Judging from the benchmarks here on AT, my Superclocked version is probably about even with the GTS 250.
The size is also another plus... I got the 1 GB card so it has the smaller PCB, which is equal in size to my 8800GT's PCB. I'm happy with my purchase considering I can recover at least 1/3 of the cost by selling my 8800GT.
I may do some benchmarks later, but I never benchmarked my 8800GT so I don't have anything to compare it to personally. I played Fallout 3 for a few minutes after installing it and the difference is noticeable at 1920x1200 with 4xAA and 8xAF and HDR.
