The game has 2D crowd sprites, which look deceptively awesome in screen shots but pretty bad in gameplay.

oh and the game is a free download since the 24th. cancelled, lmao... xbox rumor mongers, keep dreaming and making up stories (MGS4 omg!), mkay?

err...GT HD was canceled so that Sony and the developer, Polyphony, could focus their attention on GT5. What is available now is just a demo from the parts of the game that was finished enough to make a demo. wiki

Don't expect GT5 until 2008...probably late 2008.

Yea..all the pics are using the usual replay angles to make it look better. The HD concept demo is based off the PS2 game so its best we wait to see what a real GT game built from the ground up on the PS3 will be like.

Here's a few screenies from another website:

What are you babbling about? The GT HD you are playing is merely an unfinished tech demo. 10 cars and one track with no online play does not a full game make.

I'm still waiting for GT4m for my PSP f0ckers!

pretty pictures, but I don't really understand what difference that makes in a driving/racing game ?

what matters to me is realism in the perception of speed, and physics/handling. As well as sophisticated ai opponents.

any improvement in those areas ?

Since the only two modes of racing (on one track) available is "time trial" and "drift trial", there are no AI improvements because there is no AI in GT HD.

oh you mean what's already going on for say, need for speed on xbox live? $ for cheat codes? $ for tutorial movies? as much as I hate them, microtransactions are gonna be tacked on for all systems.

the screenshot in the op came from the game "gran turismo hd" that was released "as is." there's screenshots, trailers, and the game itself available for free as a download. why the negativity? take it for what it is

Same thing Sony does with everything else regarding the Playstations and promises...unfulfilled.

Yea i'd love to see that in a gran turismo... think how many cars they'd have to model though! Also glad to see it looks like they bought the licence to put ferraris!

Edit: Also i'd like to see the proper rev counter back not just that bar, or the option for it at least

What's wrong with the in-car view (I never use it myself, I actually wish they had a view that was farther back than the existing exterior views)

It's either bumper or floaty-behind cam. There is no in-car views in the GT games.

It really doesn't get any more reaslistic, seriously. If they iron out the jaggies for GT5 it'll be the greatest racing simulation game yet. I'm sure there will be some high res caps on the net soon and you can see for yourself.

The graphics may be kick ass, and it may be a really fun game, but it still doesn't qualify as a racing "simulation."

Doesn't look like these shots have HDR in them, which is the key thing that made PGR3 look so darn good.

Oh alright... yeah that's probably why I never use it.

I downloaded the GT HD demo and I thought it just looked like the PS2 version, but higher res... The people standing on the side of the roads are actually 3D now though.

I think there actually is HDR, but it's not used all over the place like most games. I noticed it when you drive through the tunnel in that first track (not sure if you can unlock more).
