Granite Bay for Xtreme Overclocking?

Here is my situation that requires attention from fellow overclockers. Immediately I've decided to play hardball with a P4 3.06 and the Prometeia (vapor cooling). I'm looking for a future with this motherboard, year or 2. Also it needs to handle extremely high FSB speeds very well. (160+ stable!) The abit IT7-max2 has proven itself but would you choose it over the GB line of boards? If granite bay is the winner, Asus P4G8X or Gigabyte 8INXP? I'm new to this arena and dont exactly know what to look for, especially bios o/cing options.

Thanks for help!

Yes, if you're willing to spend the bucks right now, then Granite Bay is your only choice. You'll be able to hit 160+ FSB with ease with any board (besides most SiS boards), but you'll get more performance from a Granite Bay board. Personally, I like the Gigabyte 8INXP.

great info, thanks to you both for making my decision easier! Granite Bay it is! I've seen a couple other great benchmarks for the ASUS P4G8X. I know I will be torn between these two boards

I'm CPU-limited though, PJ seems to have an issue with the P4-M and 8INXP which limits his OC. I bet if my CPU was up to it I could hit 190-195MHz without a problem. I should be able to get my mitts on some 2.26 C1's in a few weeks and hopefully I'll get an even better 2.26 than the one I have now!!

well if i can get my hands on a p4g8x ill be trying for 225+fsb.
if it dont go, ill at the least map out the boards maximum capabilities and then toss my 2.26b on it.

ive got a bad feeling tho that intel made sure these boards cant do 200fsb....
