Graphic card cooling

Hello. I got two eVGA 7800 GTX KO ACS, and the temperature sometimes seems rather high. 55 for idle. I bought my computer, and I'm not a lot into changing stuff inside it, but would installing an Arctic Cooling NV5 silencer help a lot. Also, does it take up a whole PCI slot? If I get it, should I get two for both cards? Thanks.
Also, isn't 11767 3d Marks not too much for my system. I got A8N-SLI Deluxe, 2GB ram, 4800+, Win Xp Pro, 500GB HD; just press My Rig underneath for more detailed info about my comp.

Does your system freeze when you stress the graphics cards?

If not, why bother modifying the graphics cards and voiding the warranty?

An idle temperature of 55 for GPU does not seem too high anyway. But, the main question is if your system freezes or not.

No it doesn't freeze. I just thought that the card might live longer if I make it cooler. The score is for 3dMark 2005

If your motherboard only has one slot in between the PCI Express x16 slots and you have an SLI setup DO NOT GET two Arctic Cooling NV Silencers! They simply will NOT fit.

I ran into this problem, and by the time I realized it, I had already installed them.

The only motherboards that allow two of these monster coolers arethe ones with two slots in between the PCI Express x16 slots. I believe thats only the ASUS A8N-SLI Premium.

EDIT: It seems the Deluxe has two slots in between cards as well, if so that will work, but you may render all of the slots in between cards unusable.

The vanilla A8N-SLI also supports it.
