Would be nice to know what gravity is. I would like to think something is escaping the earth at greater than terminal velocity in order to grab me if I were floating in space. The earth's "gravity would drag me down if I wasn't in a high velocity orbit. Strange how the "gravitons" emitted from the earth don't push me away. I read the graviton is considered an "Exchange particle" so it interacts with your body floating in space.

Thing that really makes me puke is the names of the groups of particles..lol

The theory of general relativity describes what you can expect from gravitational behaviour, but, it does nothing to tell you about the fundamental workings of it. I think all we have to this day... is analogies of gravity.

The Big Bang Theroy: God Spoke and Bang It happend! If the Big Bang Is so true, then where did all of the matter compacted in to size of a golf ball come from in the first place?

It just popped into existence.

That's not so hard to believe, is it?
I mean, anyone who has ever taken a quantum mechanics course knows that theory has predicted, and follow-up experiments have verified that particles do *in fact* pop into and out of existence all the time. These are called virtual particles, but their interaction with matter can be observed. They pop into and out of existence in particle/anti-particle pairs, then annihilate each other, popping back out of existence.
(with the exception of something or other that I'm not sure I can explain well happens at black holes, which leads to the black hole evaporating until one day... it'll be gone (see Hawking Radiation for more info on this) )

So... what's so hard about believing the initial clump necessary for the universe just "popped" into existence??

also, regarding gravity - You'd think the opposite is true, but of the 4 forces - gravity, electromagnetic, weak, and strong - gravity is the least understood.

Also, just a quick scan of posts..

Current observations predict that there is not enough mass in the universe to slow its expansion to a stop and eventually cause a big collapse.

Think of it as shooting a rocket into the air.. not enough initial velocity, and the rocket comes back down. Enough of an initial velocity, and the rocket "escapes" earth's gravity and keeps going.
edit: The universe appears to have enough velocity to keep going. And, oddly enough, the expansion seems to be accelerating (which has led to all sorts of new hypotheses in the past couple years)

Prepare for ownage.

Let me answer your question with a question:

Where did God come from in the first place?

"plays jeopardy themse music and waits for you to say that god always existed, thereby answering both of our questions equally"

Like the NOVA special on string theory states, we indeed only can describe the properties of gravity, and then only on the macro scale. that is what the theory of sting theory trys to explain further, Einstiens failed attempts to come up with a unified field theory. These are exciting times in physics!!!

The amount that we do know is dwarfed by the amount we dont know which is dwarfed by the amount we may never know.

Seriosuly though, the real question is, what happened to your ceiling?
