I like:
The Hunt For Red October
Godfathers I and II
The Shawshank Redemption

Those are my top 3 (ok, it's 4)

Edit: Add Fat Man Little Boy to the list

Any movie where you need a book and a tutorial to accompany it so you can understand what the hell is going on is incomplete, IMO.

That's a 1337 username, by the way.

Actually, it is possible to make sense of what's going on, as long as you keep your mind open to new ideas, such as planned evolution and transcendence. It obviously isn't a movie for laymen to sit back and enjoy; this truly is a work of art that could only have been created with the joint minds of Clarke and Kubrick.

Yeah MindStorm!! Gattaca is awesome!! I've seen it like 50 times (no exaggeration) and it just keeps getting better. Once the inevitable genetic revolution comes ("all the other kids at school can run the mile in 4 minutes and I have an asthma attack after the first lap! I hate you! I hate you mom and dad! I hate you! I'd say my kid will have the benefit of genetic advances, but now that all the other boys look like Tom Cruise, doesn't look like I'm ever going to have kids! I hate you!), it's going to get a lot more respect. Of course, it helps that the people of the future will be smart enough to appreciate it thanks to their genetically superior brains. Mmmm... Brains...

Right. Exactly. Laymen. You have to be a friggin' rocket scientist to get it the first time around without the books or anything. To me, that's just arrogant filmmaking.

Don't get me wrong, I love Kubrick and think he was a masterful filmmaker, but I feel that a movie should be able to stand on it's own.

Well, as Kubrick himself would say, "chacun son gout!" That is, if he spoke French

The most "complete" movie I have ever seen is Clockwork Orange. Its a wonderful meld of music and visuals, narration and witty dialogue. The theme is so very powerful, and the movie twists and plays with your emotions like no other.

Fight Club is almost up there with Clockwork Orange, it may not be as technically perfect as Clockwork Orange, but it is alot more humorous and plenty of fun.

Both are great examples of what a movie should be, and its hard to say either is the greatest, so Ill just say they both kick @$$.

Nah, that movie seemed a little to illogical for rocket scientists.

The Matrix.
Hands down.
Just watch it a couple times and you begin to realize why there some parts of the movies happen. I swear that I've seen that movie so many times but I still learn or see something new everytime I watch it.

Streetcar Named Desire, with Marlon Brando.

His work here has got to be one of the best acting jobs in the history of our planet.
