I've searched around and I can't find anyone here that has gotten the Gskill 2x2gb DDR2 1000 (PC 8000) RAM to run at 1000mhz as rated.

Everyone is running them at 800, including me. I can't get mine to an even 1000mhz for some reason. Every time I try to change the frequency my options are always above or below 1000mhz. I don't know much about the cpu:fsb ratio i've actually never heard of it before until I built this new machine. Can anyone explain further?

CPU-Z tells me that my memory is running at 400mhz? at a 1:1 ratio. But I have my memory set in BIOS to 800Mhz....

9x400 = 3600 MHz

If you want exactly 500 MHz, aka DDR2-1000, you need to use the 4:5 ratio.
(400 MHz x 1.25 = 500 MHz)

I'd assume your motherboard should have that.

Also, DDR = double data rate...
400 MHz = DDR2-800
500 MHz = DDR2-1000...& so on.

Google found pics of your bios in seconds.

DRAM Frequency.

When you have the FSB set to the desired speed, you should then have an option for DDR2-1000.

According to the review:
Now the complete list of supported dividers looks as follows: 1:1, 5:6, 4:5, 3:4, 2:3, 5:8, 3:5 and 1:2

Now one important subtiming to be aware of is tRFC, or what's called "Row Refresh Cycle Time" in your bios.
That subtiming usually needs to be 50-55+ to be able to run 500+ MHz with the RAM.

Another thing that can affect things is tRD, which seems to be implemented in a very annoyingly retarded way on that mobo.
Apparently, it's affected by Transaction Booster & DRAM Static Read Control...stupid Asus doesn't allow for real adjustment without messing around with both those, & i couldn't say how they effect things exactly, though i imagine enabling them tightens tRD, & leaving auto sets it to default, disabled perhaps is looser?
You'd have to research that more, though it won't likely be necessary for the basics.

Anyway, hope that helps a bit.
