Oh and the three best things I've ever heard...

GTA V has mission checkpoints. So if you die, or fail, you don't have to back to the start ever again, and probably the best thing...the entire city is open from the start. No unlocking necessary. If you just wanna go over to the mountains, or the airport it will not be blocked off. That's a total departure from all the past games and a very welcome change. Third, every mission is replayable at any time so if you wanna try to stealth it or see what happens when you bring a different crew, go for it.

Looks like they've adopted a few Saints Row features (replay missions and mission checkpoints)! That is awesome. They announced the open map for awhile, so that is a good thing, but expected. Mine hasn't shipped from Amazon yet (but hopefully, it is close enough I'll get it tomorrow). They have charged me though.

They have a data disc and a play disc. That is good. I wonder how the MP is! I know a few of my friends picked it up, so I can't wait tear up their game world.

Which one is supposed to look better? Neither looks "better" to me, they just look slightly different.

Well, they both have similar resolution and textures. It appears that the Xbox 360's overblown gamma strikes again in some scenes, but doesn't detract from the clarity of the details. The PS3 seems to lose texture detail ever so slightly at mid-range distances while retaining the resolution closer to the viewpoint.

In motion, you can not tell the difference. Only when you stop and nitpick things can you tell. Rockstar set out to make the best game they could on both platforms and they succeeded.

I'm not sure about missions check points, but they did have replay missions in RDR, didn't they?

IIRC only the online play had replay missions. I could be wrong though. I didn't spend an awful lot of time in the offline mode. I really wanted that golden bull for level 50. >_>

Thinking back, I am almost positive that they had replay missions on RDR because you could receive scores for each mission, and could hurry and replay them if you scored low.

I think im just gonna just get this on PSN. I really doubt that GTA V will have any resale value since everyone will own it.

To be honest I couldn't even tell. And I agree with cmdrdredd, kudos to Rockstar for making the game look amazing on either platform. Let the decision on which platform to purchase this on be dictated by which controller, online service etc. you prefer, not on the performance of the GFX.

I was going 360 no matter what, but that's just because it's my main console and my group of friends will be playing it. If I end up really liking it, then I may pick it up again for the ps3 when they all move on to call of duty and see if I meet any cool people on PSN.

Going 360 here as well. I was actually throwing around the idea of getting the PS3 500GB + GTA V combo from Gamestop for $269 if the PS3 version warranted it, plus its a great price on a console I've never owned. However I'll stay with the 360 until next gen.

Yeah you won't tell a difference, there's no reason to buy a PS3 for this. Not from what I see and from what people are saying. It appears that some of the codes from GTAIV for spawning vehicles etc work as well. Gonna be fun messing around with the game for a while for sure.

I have my PS3 copy paid off now, also went ahead and paid off a couple other titles coming up.

how can such a heavily marketed game that cost 250mil be sold out?! isn't that leaving money on the table? why didn't taketwo make more of the special + collectors edition and enjoy the fat margins @ a much greater volume....there are no blu ray media shortages

GTA4 provided a ridiculous amount of entertainment. I bought it a while after it was released for $20 and liked it enough to pony up the $60 and do a preorder. Good job, Rockstar.

I went with the PS3 version since this is probably the last current gen game I will play online. Don't really feel like paying for Xbox Live since I will barely use it and I don't have plans to get an XB1.

My friend is getting it tonite at the midnight release. I'm working from home tomorrow so he will let me know how it is. I plan on picking it up during lunch tomorrow. I think we are going to try out some online play. Last game for my ps3 this generation and in case I don't finish it before ps4 I'm keeping the ps3 in the closet as a backup.

Never played the GTA4 DLC. Just wasn't that interested in it. I can't even bring myself to finish GTA4 before GTA5 comes out.

This game better come out on PC man I dont want to play any more Xbox 360 games and I cancelled my Xbox Live 3 months ago, last thing on earth I want to do is reactivate that again so I can go through the hassle of cancelling it whihc was a giant PITA involving several phone calls last time I cancelled.

Maybe ill get one of those pre paid cards things and just use those.

I never played them, but some of the reviews I've read say the checkpoint system in GTA5 is completely new to the series... so it must be different than what was seen before.

Anyway, game looks really good. I'm trying not to jump on it and I'm hoping for a PC version that doesn't suck, or maybe even a next-gen remake down the road.
