So I've played through the point where Trevor becomes a playable character and I must say I've loved every moment. All of the main characters are enjoyable, but Michael is by far my favorite. He has that "f'ed up rich guy/uncontrollable rage" feel to him, which I find utterly believable.

So far I only have a couple beefs with the game.

1. I think the in car shooting mechanics/controls are horrible. Is it possible to aim a gun without shooting while in a car?

2. The player character car damage modeling is a bit too forgiving IMO. I've hit god knows how many objects and have never blow up my own car. I've jettisoned the driver a number of times and flipped, but my car always seems driveable. That is probably an intentional design decision, as it would be a PITA to find a new vehicle in some of the in game locations.

3. The assisted aiming seems kind of glitchy, particularly when multiple targets are available. Anyone else notice that it tends to favor aircraft (helicopters) instead of people on the ground?

4. I'm still early in some of the missions so maybe this will rectify itself, but I find it incredibly annoying that some of the mission companions will repeatedly prompt you to do something. E.g., as Trevor I was tasked with sniping some folks while my companion went to do his task associated with the mission. Like an idiot I moved Trevor and he fell from his perch. As I maneuvered him back into position, I had to suffer through my companion saying the same damn thing over and over (He's gonna kill me Trevor!) every 5 seconds for about a minute. By the time I was back in position I actually wished the game followed through and killed the guy!

This is game of the year material for sure. I can't wait to see the next GTA on ps4. Sure its probably going to be 4-5 years away but oh well this game will keep my ps3 going.

Did anyone see the sales numbers for day one? $800 million. That is crazy considering the game cost $250 million to make. Nice profit rock star and a damn good game...

I started playing and ending up staying up a bit too late (330AM >_>) I am hurting today at work.

I didn't get too far, just a couple missions past the Trevor part and I am thinking about restarting.
I picked the most expensive people on the heist and that was a mistake I think, at least with the gunman, and on Franklin's assassination missions, I want to make sure I invest some of my money before I manipulate the markets.

I am really enjoying this, and the characters have decent enough stories so far. The cops are a tad bit aggressive and sometimes can see through buildings and stuff. I've tried hiding in alleys and they see me anyway. =(

Where do you start buying the stocks? I was trying to figure that out last night.. Is it on the phone?

Peter Molyneux:
"The newly released Grand Theft Auto V is a game that's everywhere, you can hardly avoid it. It will achieve around $1 billion in revenue on consoles in just one month.
"Sounds impressive, doesn't it? No. That's not impressive."

After a certain mission, I believe it becomes available. But yes, it is on the phone. If you go to the web browser there is a stock market trading site you can go to. It is fairly easy once you find it.

Peter Molyneux: I wish my games delivered on the promises I make and made money. Clearly, I am upset GTA5, in a single day has made more than my Fable franchise has made in it's life. Donate to my Kickstarter!

I can't understand why people still listen to what Molyneux says.

Shooting in the car is the one thing I struggle with. It was so simple in Saints Row III to do it so not sure what changed. I have also launched my car 100ft in the air, rolled it and still drove away with 3 people in the car. Somewhat comical overall, but still a lot of fun.

On GTA4 PC, the in car shooting is so much better. You can use RMB to aim (brings up the reticle) and then LMB to shoot. All while using the keyboard to drive. Sadly, GTA 4's car driving was complete garbage and ruined the experience.

The cars a rather durable in this game, but that isn't so much of a bad thing, considering how aggressive the police are. If they were this aggressive in previous GTAs, as soon as you got 1 star, you'd basically be dead. They would blow your car up then shoot you when you got out.

This is the first GTA where it truly feels like a real city. It's great. I just wish I had more time to play.

All I know is that if they can do this on 8 year old consoles, just imagine how great it will be on the new consoles.

Yeah, I can notice some textures being low quality, but the game itself looks pretty good for running on current gen. I don't think the next gen and PC releases will be major improvements, but in a few years, GTA 6 (or whatever it is called) is going to be amazing looking. The first true next gen GTA is going to be quite a site.

Oh, btw, if you guys haven't checked out the shooting range yet, do it now. It is easy, fun, and my shooting is maxed on Franklin after completing the the challenges. Also, I got a discount at Ammu-nation. I did get quite a few golds though (all SMG, assault rifles, and shotguns).

Am I the only person on AT having disc reading issues?

I play the mission "Complications", and after I sneak into the house via the window, the game goes black and restarts. Then it gives me this error message. I plan on exchanging the discs tonight.

Sounds like your HDD is bad, not a disc read issue. I'd reinstall it on the HDD before I exchange anything.

Yeap, assuming they don't change anything drastically from the gameplay and up the graphics, add new features according to the new console specs and it will be a blast.

OK OK I get it, I'll probably play it on our 55" 1080p LED.

Is my Xbox Elite 120GB sufficient to play this or do I need a newer console?

That's what I'm using. I don't think there is any performance difference between the generations of Xbox - just stablity/cooling improvements and larger HDs. As long as you have HD space you will have no problem.

I really don't need this game in my life now and 50 hours down the toilet.

That said it is obvious it must be etched on my belt at some point, no sense in delaying. Bought it at lunch. Feeling a cough coming on...

I'm trying to finish Red Dead Redemption before I get too far into GTA V, and it's getting kind of annoying. I keep pressing up on my D-pad and my car isn't coming to me.

Sadly, I've only played a couple hours so far but I'm liking what I've seen. Franklin and his buddy are hilarious. And I haven't seen too much of Michael yet other than his first interaction with Franklin, but just playing around in the world a bit I did find it funny when I started following this woman and talking to her. Using the gesture/talk button to say "Hi" and then just kept following her, talking to her over and over again. She started walking faster and eventually started running from the creepy stalker.

The character banter is a lot better than in GTA 4. Franklin's friend reminds me so much of a few people I knew growing up (not exactly in the neighborhood / schools).

I feel the same way. Those two together is normally good for a laugh

Was that a pre-order bonus? I picked up a copy yesterday @ Gamestop and it had the code in it- haven't entered it yet or seen any blimps/parachutes, but I'm only a few hours in to the game
