Well Tanclearas, I think you should read nippyjun's link posted right above your post to let you know whats really going on instead of what the situation "seems like". It's always good to have at least some source of information before commenting about something.
GeFore 7800GTX 512's are not what is in short supply. It's the 1.1ns 144-pin memory modules that are trickling out from Samsung. Nvidia reported excellent yields of the respun G70 core and that it rivaled the 7800GTX in production. Not going to get into an argument over this with you as nippyjun's link is pretty much self explanatory.
Of course, you can choose not to believe that Samsungs 1.1 production is pitiful right now. You should not be disappointed in Nvidia at all. After all, you have one of there monsters in your rig don't you? And besides, if you were bouncing your knee deciding whether or not to hit the "Nuke" button to buy a new GTX512 and getting that troubled over it, chances are it was a sign and you really didn't need to spend that crazy money on one. /what the hell did I say?
Nvidia decided to use that memory KNOWING that it was in short supply. I remember people saying that ATI's GPU problems were not ATI's fault, becuase of a 3rd party error, but the Nvidia fanboys still attacked ATI based on that.
The fact is that your trying to make up excuses for Nvidia. Nvidia needs no excuses. It chose that type of memory to run. Without the new memory, the benchmarks would not have been as favorable, as the next memory was 1.2, which I assume will run at 1500 based on ATI's experience clock of their 1.2ns memory.
LOL!!!! 3rd party technology that was part of the CORE!!!! Hehe. Perhaps they DID know it would be in short supply. But perhaps they also know that this will change soon enough. You spin it the way you wish brudda. No skin off my nose. Off to play some CoD2.
Cheers.
