Hey guys,

If I play any game in 3d and just move with my keyboard, the image is perfectly smooth...but when I look around with my mouse, I get bad stuttering and choppy play . This happens in benchmarks like Stonegiant also.

I have extrememly high fps and my temps are all excellent, cpu load is about 50 in games, gpu is 60c.

The stuttering is worse with Vsync enabled than it is off, but either way it's bad.

I have tried different mice, with drivers and no drivers, different monitors, DVI cables, reinstalled windows 7 64 bit, tried several nvidia drivers, tons of different things with no results.

I can't figure out if this is a software or hardware issue.

I just built this PC a week ago, here are the specs:
asus vg248qe 144hz monitor 1ms GTG respone time.
EVGA GTX 770 SC 4GB Vram ACX cooling
asrock z87 extreme4
4670k @ stock speeds
Samsung 840 pro 256gb
corsiar hx850
4 gb gskill sniper 1600mhz, 1 stick died
Haf XB case
2013 Razer Deathadder

I am so frustrated, please help!

That's good. What is heaven 4.0 score? I am asking about these scores so we can isolate the problems.

Actually the CPU is going from 3.4 to 3.8 with turbo boost.

My Heaven 4.0 score is 1252

AVG fps 49.7

min fps 8.1

max fps 118

Your score is fine, do you run any antivirus/internet security?

Ok, basically your scores look fine so there is no issue with either the gpu or cpu.Can you check the windows event logs?

I used to get stuttering on Asrock boards but I would have thought they would have sorted that out now. In both my cases it was down to dodgy PCIe implementation.

Can you take a fraps frame times trace and get back to us with a picture of a stuttering run. Doesn't tell us why its stuttering but it will allow us to estimate how much it is stuttering which might jog some thoughts.

Wonder if its a flaky overclock on your card,i noticed its a overclocked edition and sometimes i hear there can be bad overclocks out of the box and it might be worth a shot to drop it to stock oem specs.

I have had issues with aero as well causing weird issues like this in the pass, also i found enabling full on preferred maximum performance over adaptive in the nvidia control panel under power management mode to help as well.

Hope i helped ya out.

Wow I'm having the same issue with my 7970. It does not stutter all the time but in games like far cry 3 it dips to 30 and bl2 even though the framerate is above 60 most of the time it still hitches. i7- 4670k, Asrock extreme 4, no overclock. Also my gpu idle temp has gone from 33 to to 36. Please help. Also whenever i try to run hwinfo 64 it crashes my pc when checking for ide.

Start a new thread, when you say crashes do you mean system freeze or bsod? download "whocrashed" and report.

I have tried underclocking and over volting the card a bit, neither had any effect.

I ordered another gtx 770 to compare with this one, starting to think its just a bad video card or my motherboard.

Ok I'm back with some interesting results, when setting my frame rate target in precision X to 120 and set my monitors refresh rate to 120hz...it removed 95 pcnt of the stutter but I have a constant image tear from turning the mouse...

If i leave precision to 120fps and change my monitor to 144hz, the image stutters like a mad man.

what

the

fuck!

Try without precision or any other fps or overclocking tools running. These tools can cause problems themselves.

Thanks for your reply!

These problems came up before precision X.

I only installed it for troubleshooting purposes.

I just got my second gtx 770 in and it does the same thing, so its def not the card

I am going to RMA this board, now I have to decide between the Gigabyte UD3H and equal offering from Asus.

On a side note, after I hooked up my second 770 and oc'd my cpu to 4.4ghz, my score went from 29k to 45k in 3d Mark Vantage ))))

Thanks to all who helped me in this thread, much love!

When you get the new motherboard installed PLEASE update this thread to let us know if that was indeed the problem causing your stutter. I have a system with almost identical symptoms.
