Thanks.

The 4890 is faster, but it should be as it's generally more expensive.

For that price how can you go wrong? I'm considering one for Physx...

That's fricken crazy. Seems like 6 months ago they went for $330. If only I owned an SLI board.

Just ordered one. Came to $155.29 w/tax, before MIR. The order is confirmed but email says Est delivry is 9 15 09. That is after the MIR deadline.
I suppose I can track it and if it comes early I am OK, if not I suspect I can cancel before it ships. There might be better deals by then.
Right now $155 seems like decent price but may not be by 9 15

ok... the 4890 is faster... except at f@h
whereas the 4890 gets @3000 ppd and the GTX260 gets @6000+ ppd.

if you fold, go with the GTX260,
if you don't fold, go with the 4890.

now... if you fold, and still like a useable computer, go with the 4890.

I have both of these cards and think they're both great. I got my 4890 for @$160

I keep the 4890 on my main computer, and the GTX260 goes in the dedicated crunchers.

I ordered myself 2 of these. I suggest finding another person to order one for you, a 2nd rebate saving you another $30.

I think there is still a deal for the 4890 for $125 going around. Seems like a long time to wait and the cost went up for your purchase.

Yep, got the same thing when I ordered one for my brother last night. Est delivery date 9/15/09. I'm thinking it's an error and it really is supposed to be 7/15/09.

Otherwise, it's cancel time. There was no mention of it being backordered, and product page said "Usually ships within 24 hrs".

7/8 Update: I canceled the order

Got concerned about the est ship date, so I called Dell. Sure enough, they called their warehouse and are out of stock. It will be at least 10 business days before they get inventory, but couldn't guarantee that date. Was on the phone a while as they tried to sort out the mess, and were perplexed as normally their systems don't allow orders to book if there is low / no inventory. That sucks.

Thanks.

The 4890 is faster, but it should be as it's generally more expensive.

**50% faster across the board...

I dont know about all that. A 4890 is a rehashed 4870, which was barely faster than a 260.

A 4890 is an improved and higher clocked 4870 and is much faster than a 260. There's really no comparison between the two. Nvidia's GTX 275 is comparable in performance to the HD4890, but is generally more expensive.

It's more like 15-20%.

Exactly. But not 50%.
