I have looked through most of the reviews and it seems xbit got a freaking defective one. runs hotter, users more power and even makes more noise than even the gtx480 and cant oc very good. other reviews look much better and gtx465 seems right in line as for heat, consumption and noise compared to its bigger brothers.

10% slower (TPU review) than 5850 for 10% less $$$, but takes more power...i think the 5850 is just a better buy than this.
but i wouldn't buy either, i'm waiting for a *850 GPU for 200$ just like the 4850 was. maybe next year?

It comes with Just Cause 2 until 6/30, and only in that light is the card a decent deal.

Might also be a good deal if you did what Guru 3D did and flash it to a 470.

By itself, the card is too slow for the price. $55 less and it would be a good buy.

This card seems very disappointing to me. I hate how Nvidia is intentionally pricing around AMD.
The 5830 already isn't an appealing product. This is like taking a 5830 and charging $50 more for it. I thought AMD was a bit nuts with the 5830 pricing but this is just crazy. Why would anyone buy this???

The 5850's pricing makes sense, the gtx470's pricing makes sense, the 5870's pricing makes sense...even the gtx480's pricing almost makes sense. At the low end the 5770 is priced just right in my opinion. I know many will say it's too high, but I'm glad that the companies are making a profit, we need them both to stay healthy or they may get squashed by Intel at some point lol. What is it with this price range that AMD and Nvidia both just cannot fill with a compelling product? This card should be targeting the $199 price point.

That can all equally apply to the HD5830 though, so it's hardly an NV-only issue (in fact, the HD5830 is much worse in this respect).
Probably just part of the binning process to get maximum yield.

This review is sloppy and outright laughable at points. Although it states which Nvidia drivers used (3 of them) he clearly used different drivers for different cards and/or old benchmarks on the same game on many parts of the tests, despite the 257 drivers offering some noticeable across-the-board increases. Even if not by much, FPS scores should be slightly different and/or up. In some reviews, it was clear newer drivers were only used on certain cards as the gtx470 is way faster than the gtx480 at BFBC2. Nearly all the other benchmarks, though, have both cards scoring the exact same as they did at release.

It's not an accurate, or credible, way to post a review. All tests should be done on the same configuration. same software, same hardware, same drivers. If there isn't enough time to rerun your gtx470/480 benchmarks with the latest drivers, then you should NOT include them in the review.

the GTX480 is a fermi core with 15 out of 16 shader groups (each group is 32 shaders)
the GTX470 is a fermi core with 14 out of 16 shader groups
the GTX465 is a fermi core with 11 out of 16 shader groups, also they disabled a raster engine for a 25% cut there, and other components... And to top it all off the 470 and 480 did agressive voltage binning, so the GTX465 gets the cores that consumed too much power to be a GTX470. As such it is much higher voltage, and as a result much louder and has higher power consumption than the GTX480! And yet it sometimes falls behind the GTX275

Who in their right mind would want to buy this nvidia? who?

Interestingly, the HD5770 is about equivalent in performance to my GTX260, but it can do DX11, runs much cooler, is the quietest of all modern GPUs by far, and takes the least amount of power of them all by far...
Those two factors are really tempting me to make a sidegrade from the GTX260

The card is maybe 3-4fps faster and sometimes ties the 5830. The 5830 is a crap card in it's own right just like the 465, but it is $60 cheaper and offers the same performance.

This thing is a non-contender until it comes down $50 to compete with a 5830.

ATI's strategy once again proves the best for the midrange- where the money is. Nvidia will need to change unless it is content with losing more market share with bad/mediocre midrange products.
