Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a clear winner in the EVGA GTX 780 SC w/ ACX Cooler. This card is faster than GTX Titan, for only $10 more than the reference GTX 780!

Here are the performance differences at 25x16 resolution for GTX 780 SC ACX vs. GTX 680 and HD 7970 GHz Ed:

Assassin's Creed 3: +35.3% / +39.5%
Batman: Arkham City: +49.8% / +42.1%
Battlefield 3: +50.4% / +40.2%
Bioshock Infinite: +44.1% / +64.2%
Borderlands 2: +39.9% / +43.7%
Call of Duty: Black Ops II: +39.6% / +45.5%
Crysis: +39.9% / +24.5%
Crysis 3: +48.5% / +29.4%
Diablo 3: +38.4% / +36.1%
Far Cry 3: +59.2% / +43.9%
F1 2012: +62% / +56.3%
Hitman: Absolution: +67.5% / +40.2%
Metro 2033: +58.1% / +42.1%
Sleeping Dogs: +43.7% / +19.4%
Start Craft III: Heart of the Storm: +12.1% / +94.1%
The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim: +29.6% / +18.2%
Tomb Raider: +63.5% / +34.1%
World of Warcraft: +40.7% / +48.6%

AVG. OF ALL TESTS: +45.7% / +42.3%

And here is the insane thing:

1) Perf. per watt is better than any other card TPU has tested ( http://tpucdn.com/reviews/EVGA/GTX_780_SC_ACX_Cooler/images/perfwatt_2560.gif )

2) Perf. per dollar is neck and neck with the 7970 GHz Ed ( http://tpucdn.com/reviews/EVGA/GTX_780_SC_ACX_Cooler/images/perfdollar_2560.gif )

3) Overclocking brings an additional 11% performance boost for a card that is already operating at higher than stock frequencies ( http://tpucdn.com/reviews/EVGA/GTX_780_SC_ACX_Cooler/images/perf_oc.gif )

No wonder this card is sold out at Newegg.

What's the overall performance advantage for the 780 in their tests?

We can extrapolate a silly baseline from that!

It looks like a balls out 1350 7970 will be pretty close overall to the baseline 780, with preliminary on air overclocks for the 780 gaining over 31% on itself it's tough it really say much has changed except needing to win the silicon lottery with the 7970.

True. I guess we can assume it's boosting to at least the stock boost clocks. It's very hard to compare with Boost 2.0 - I think's it a great feature, but making it tough until someone in the forums can do some tailored testing.

Not a 7970 but it's the best I could do with a 7950. I thinks it's 400 points off from a GTX 780.

MrK6 your turn You should be going over 12K on the Graphics Score

Impressive, within spitting distance of the 780.

3DMark 780 stock

Is that at 900MHz?

I wonder what the factory OC models get which can beat titan.

With water and a new vbios it's possible that gap could open up well over 40%, perhaps even 50% on a water cooled 1350Mhz 7970.

Should be interesting to see, I'll watch some of the more bench friendly forums to see how that plays out.

It's always about the silicon lottery unless you're a lightweight.

I doubt the 50% lead though. Need some benches!

I'm sold!

42.3% faster than GHz @1600p out of the box >.<

The amazing thing is that GTX 780 SC ACX still has decent overclocking headroom on top of higher-than-reference clocks, while costing only $10 more than the GTX 780 reference card. $10 goes a long ways nowadays, my goodness.

Holy crap that is impressive! Now that makes the price tag seem worth it. We'll have to see if their overclocking results are the norm for that card.

Note the 780 is OCed and max OC vs. stock 680 and stock 7970GHz.

In reality the difference shrinks as you overclock the other two.

It's a nice card, but again it's oc vs. stock.

So where can I get this GTX 780 SC ACX version? I have been researching around my area, they mostly have reference model. Now I feel like holding back again and wait for these special versions to become available.

True. If you take the average results from multiple review sites and extrapolate the performance of the EVGA card, you're probably looking at 30-35% more performance than the GHz card. Depends on TPU's testing environment though.

They'll probably slowly fade away for GPUs, LTC is already taking in waves of GPU farmers making it less than half as profitable as it was two weeks ago

Anybody see any mention of waterblocks for the GTX 780? I'm assuming Titan blocks will work, but there are some differences in the PCB's.

Hmm, their not getting too high of overclocks?

EVGA GTX 780 SC
1065 MHz

GIGABYTE GTX 780
1035 MHz

NVIDIA GTX 780
1050 MHz

NVIDIA GTX TITAN
990 MHz

So out of 3 780's ~1050 core. I actually thought titan gets 1100 or so normally but they only got 990.

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/EVGA/GTX_780_SC_ACX_Cooler/29.html

Being the OC temp was only 76c, is this the NV artificial limitations stopping these cards (tdp or lack of volts) or is that all the core has to offer on these sample cards?
