Guildwars 2 Beta Thread

Just started watching the beta vids and catching up with the game after getting totally disappointed by the latest D3 beta patch. Character customization and combat look amazing.

I'm kind of annoyed with the dxdiag thing. My C: drive is only 50GB total, so I have around 9GB left space there, but I have my D drive with 300+GB free. WHY DOESN'T IT LOOK FOR IT :'(

They've stated multiple times on their twitter that if you have multiple CPUs/HDDs/GPUs it will not show up in the scanner but it does recognize them.

EDIT: This was also the first time I ever used puu.sh. Great program/service. Check it out takes pictures of either your whole screen, the active window, or a selected area and automatically uploads it and puts the link in your clipboard with a keybind. Mine is Ctrl + Shift + 1,2 or 3

Game looks great, but I'm struggling to shake off the WoW conditioning of no endgame, no raids, no healers. I don't what to think of this game, maybe Devil May Cry online.

I feel you - my C: partition is only 36 Gb and like 12 GB of it is being reserved for virtual memory so it is only showing 2 Gb free...

Probably not before the 48 hours to sign expires. And then some.

I used my email that is linked to GW account--not sure if all of that is the same with NCSoft. at least, when I go through the rewards page for GW2 items, I only have to enter a character name and I see everything.

should be easy enough.

I even gave the name of my guild and such when registering for this--as dead as it's been for a year or so now, heh.

Read the FAQs. They are doing Beta events on weekends not a long term persistent Beta. If you meet the requirements for what they are trying to test that weekend you get a weekend pass essentially.

So if they are doing a large WvW test and you stated you were interested in PvP you may get an invite but someone who put PvE focused may not.

Well that was odd, after fourth time logging in. I finaly got mmy character back on the quest track. Went to load up my henchmen. And just start walking to town spots trying to find someone that gives next one when I saw that I had a start mission button on the group interface, selected it and now have quest in my log again.



Is there a site with a nice easy to follow listing of what you need to do to get the carried. Forward rewards?

I was talking for the game proper, which hopefully will be out soon.

I know some people that failed to get their 4th anniversary xunlai pane because they forgot their NCSOFT account.

I think the GW wiki has a good guide on it, I keep thinking about doing this myself but I have so many other games to play I never get around to it.

Anyways I watched some pvp videos last night and I'm liking it a lot so far, I'm glad that they still have "pvp" characters that are kind of separate from pve so you don't have to worry about maxing your guy before even attempting pvp. One thing I found kind of funny is how bad the people previewing pvp are, they all seem to just spam one skill over and over and also die over and over and they don't get the hint lol.

I checked that I prefer "balanced PvE and PvP," but I plan to do 0% PvP. Hoping that will give me more opportunities, heh.

One of the videos mentioned that when taking PvE character into a PvP event, you will be autoleveled up to a matching level.

Of course, you will still be handicapped by your weaker gear and whatever skill set you have, but I think it's a decent compromise in that regard.

There was also mention that when grouping up for PvE events, all players waltz in at more comparative levels to each other--such that one doesn't end up being the sponge dragging everyone else along....or something like that

I think I like the skill-leveling mechanic quite a bit, which GW1 didn't have. I believe this is an old mechanic back from Everquest and WoW, no?

Hmm the video I watched the guy got all new gear and stuff (as well as autoleveling to 80) when he took his guy to the pvp zone. This was in the smaller pvp area, not sure if WvW would be the same.

My understanding is for Structured PvP (5v5) you're auto leveled to 80, granted all skills and unlocks for your class, Given a standardized set of gear everyone will be required to wear in PvP.

In WvW you're only auto leveled to 80. You don't get all your skills and utilities unlocked or a set of gear.

I put PvE focused for my interests. I figured if I put balanced they may skip over them for the more specific events or something. I don't see any group getting an exorbitant amount more testing than any other. Arena.net has stated that by the end of April or so when they're hoping to end the mass beta period everyone who wants to test GW2 will get a chance.
