Ok, how are point calculated?

I know you get points for
-mhz
-kbps
-credits spent on virus
-Vault upgrades (I think?)

So, how do you lose rank?
-You get passed
OR
-You sell stuff but don't buy anything

If someone is ranked highly and they lose a lot of spots, what does that mean?

Does that mean that they have sold a bunch of stuff and have a ton of credits just sitting there?
Possible scenario - You think you have enough saved up to do an upgrade to a level 7 virus (960,000), so you sell all your stuff. You screwed up and you're short just a little bit... what do you do? You don't want to buy all your defense back right away since you'll lose 25% of your credits... so instead you hold onto it and pray to god that nobody attacks you for the next turn so you can get that little extra bit to put you over the edge to buy the next virus upgrade.

Is that what's happening?

Of course this ranking is out of date now by 18 minutes. They may have gotten their extra credits by now and made the virus upgrade or they've spent all those credits. Or their vault is so incredibly huge that it's all safe.

EDIT: I attacked Cyrax this round and got nothing. I don't know if that proves anything. I got 46% and that was 0.

Maybe this is wishful thinking, but maybe this last update allowed him to get the last bit of credits to buy his virus upgrade?

If he makes a huge jump next update, I think that will help confirm this theory. If he goes nowhere, then I'm smoking crack for this whole scenario.

I took your advice. Succeeded in both despite my somewhat low kpbs. Got around 150k from duckiE, while got absolutely nothing from cyrax. Perhaps cryrax already used up his credits...

I was thinking the same thing -

What do you guys think - next time someone's going to be gone for quite a while & obviously get hit massively by the other teams, why not PM a fellow ATOTer and offer that person the heads up on the available credits?

(And, since I thought of the idea, PM me! )

But, if you just post it here, 25 of us will hit it and everyone will come up with nothing.

I added another conditional formatting parameter for mine that highlights values lower than -10 in an orange background.

EDIT2: cyrax did not move up in the rankings this update.
If I'm thinking about that correctly, that might mean that he
-got cleaned out and doesn't have the funds to upgrade now
-has a huge vault and still has not spent those credits
-my Hackcess tool sucks

I am quite sure the window of opportunity to hitting large rank decreases is quite small. After merely 1 large hit, most people would quickly use up their credits.

On a side note, a downside to your tool is when one goes to bed or afks from hackcess for awhile, forcing them to completely restart the copy paste pattern.

Also, the tool will still work without an update every single update. It can't be used for this latest "strike force" sort of usage (if this is even working like I think it is), but it will still indicate which players have been inactive overnight.
