Half-Life 2 now 64-bit?

I decided to try Half Life 2 again recently. The latest update took me some 15 minutes on a 100 Mb line. That's nothing, since HL2 takes a long time to do anything even on the best hardware. But During the load screen I noticed a new message I never saw before near the top left saying "64-bit mode activated". I've never seent his before. BTW I am running on XP professional x64. Has anyone noticed anything this changes in particular? I haven't actually played the updated version... yet.

Well, after having played for a short while, I can definitely say that I have had no "bugs" with the 4-bit HL2. However, load times are another story altogether. The load time for the beginning used to take maybe 15 seconds, now it's about 1 minute. Same thing happened with one of the "red letter day" levels I entered right before Barney throws the crowbar, loadtime went from something like 15 seconds to over 10 minutes. I checked what my HDD was doing, it was hardly doing anything at all. And the sound bug where sounds repeat surfaced here, I've never had that issue before on this computer, or any other I played it on. So Valve still needs a lot of work done for their 64-bit version.
