The original property had no water or sewer and the town allowed it.

The reason the sewer line requirement became enforceable was because Doceff essentially had a line hooked up to somewhere on his land.

The logistics of such a small town would suggest the presence of numerous monopolies simply because there isn't enough people to create competition.

You seem rather incapable of comprehending the logsitics of a small town. The politicians in the government will also have a private business outside of it. Government can be tuilized as an arm to stimulate the economy. And on the small scale, direct enrichment from one guy to another. Here, the water company likely saw opportunity to overcharge him for a necessity.

Your penchant for exaggeration betrays an irrational guillbility. There was no killing spree. If anything, he was comically incompetent in killing and took way too much thinking for mere killing. He simply inflicted the damages imposed on him back at the town and the private enterprises seeking enrichment. Like a drug dealer infested neighborhood, the drug dealer doesn't threaten everyone, just those who cross him. Maybe Doceff was on his to-kill list, and some law enforcement, but not those who did him no harm.

He simply showed that "MAGA county" has guns, but they don't do shit against quality armor.
Lot of words to say nothing. You're not going to have competition for a sewer company in any town. And he could have just installed a cheaper septic system if he didn't want to be at the mercy of Big Sewer.

Regardless, not liking the conditions the town imposed did not justify going on a destructive spree with an armored bulldozer that endangered an unknown (to the perpetrator) number of people.

You are 100% correct. I agree with you 100%

Three years ago I purchased a parcel adjacent to my property. After purchase I found out that the parcel did not have access to city sewer service. I approached the three land owners behind the parcel about purchasing an easement to gain access to the sewer lines.

I offered to pay the attorneys fees for the contract and offered an additional $2000 if one them agreed. After approaching them one on one about it everyone declined. When I asked them why they all had the same response. "We like the parcel the way it is and are worried that with sewer access something might be built on it.".

OK fair enough. My next step was approaching the city about gaining access to the sewer line and they said without getting permission from one of the land owners I am SOL. OK fine.

Next I tried to reach out to the code/zoning department about the idea of putting a septic system on the property. I was almost immediately met with No. They said the parcel is to small for a septic system(1/2 acre)and that getting an exemption to install a septic system within city limits rarely granted. SOL again...OK fine.

So at that point I let it go. WHAT I DIDN'T DO was purchase a bulldozer then proceed to plate it in armor so I could exact revenge on the land owners behind me, the code/zoning department employees, and city hall for not granting me an easement or septic system exemption.

The thought or anything like it NEVER crossed my mind.

I agree that it is appropriate to hate on the NIMBY neighbors, but also agree that you wouldn't take an armored bulldozer to their homes.

Moral of the story I suppose is to check out such things before you purchase a parcel. It can be hard sometimes. Talk to neighbors of the parcel, someone might have something to say that affects your decisions. Just sayin', but real estate is not my long suit! Don't mean to get on your case. Maybe you can grow something on it?

Yes I should have done my due diligence. That is the moral of my story. Perhaps the moral of the story overall though is don't go on a destructive rampage destroying other peoples lives if things don't go your way.

I also want to thank you for the advice on growing things on the 1/2 acre I purchased. I had not thought of that. Perhaps I will put a garden in to grow peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, and flowers for the pollinators. I might also plant some fruit trees. Like cherries, apples, and pears.

my favorite part of this now-legendary thread backfire, is that you can perfectly imagine how Red is so fucking ensconced in his white-nationalist terrorist forums up there in fake France land, bouncing all these ideas and "holidays" between themselves like it's some great thing to celebrate, or even funny. It is now impossible to see any world outside of their self-aggrandizing sphere of violent Christian terrorism. So Red then comes over here, still somehow imaging that humans think like he and his asshole buddies think, and this "holiday" celebrating an ignorant, murderous fascist cvnt is going to appear just as charming and interesting as it does with his militia boys.

what a riot.

I kinda hope some redneck buys land next to squirrel and decides they want to open their own auto junkyard and DIY concert venue, with a bunch of poop shacks that drain into a ditch that runs along the property line.

Pretty sure he lives in a cult community if not a cult compound, so it'd probably end up like Wild Wild Country.
