Hard drive is screwing up!?!?!?

I have noticed that the free space on my hard drive was decreasing at an alarming rate and saw that files that were supposed to be about 50MB were now many GB!!!!!!

Does anyone know what could cause this and what I need to do to fix this problem?

That sounds more like virus than hd failure. Run a virus scan, there is a free, online version at Here

more details on your system would be helpful.
if you're using ME, is system restore enabled or disabled?
